Didn’t Judd Winick do the whole ‘having Robin beat Joker with a crowbar’ in Under the Red Hood (the comic book story, not the animated movie)? I have been in a Batman mood lately… I’ll have to look for these at the comic convention I’m going to next week.
Yeah he did but having him beaing beaten by Robin, the ACTUAL Robin, in the costume makes more of a statement I think.
Techanically Elliot, MIKE BARR created Damian in the Batman: Son Of The Demon OGN, which Grant Morrison took and put into mainstream continuity, and Batman INC will be Bruce Wayne
Kinda funny how you guys mention all the new $3.99 Batman books, and just a few days after you recorded this, DC switched back at least 90% of their $3.99 books down to $2.99, lol

Mike Barr created the Damian character just w/o a name after Batman has sex w/ Talia in the Son of the Demon OGN.

Yeah I loved the (now unneeded for the most part) 3.99 rage at the end.
True about Barr creating Damian. I remember that getting retconned, and the Morrison undoing the retcon. As for the price change, one of the things we discuss in Last Rants is the hit comic sales took due to the 3.99 price tag. Insideman discusses it on his blog as well. Considering that this is a topic we’ve been harping on for months, and that the vid was recorded before DC and Marvel’s announcements, I think we come off as a pair of friggin’ Nostrodamuses. Or is that Nostrodomi?

I really like this series, I was one of those people on the blog loving this.
Its the bat book to buy.
I’m looking forward to Tomasi/Gleason B&R, Gleason in particular is sooo…deserving of praise. Guy along with Reis Held Green Lantern (Sorry EVS) and DC in general on it’s shoulders.
I kinda dropped B & R after the arc with Stewart as the artist. Morrison is obviously a great writer, but sometimes he just gets to be too much with the trippy storylines. Great question at the end guys. How much Batman do we really need?

These books do have REALLY beautiful art. D is right if you want to buy on Batman book (not that I can grasp THAT concept lol) this is definitely the book to buy.

On layouts and artwork, I am still mesmerized by Powers #6.
I its kinda of funny when watching your videos you keep saying go to blog which I just didnt care for, and after you guys stop putting up videos for a while I comment and check out blog now. So in away not putting up videos I guess can get people to come to blog. Any ways I like reading batman and robin seris. Damian is my favorite robin of all time. If the writer can do it right its going to be funny with damian and the teen titans.

To jose’s complaint of how nearly every character falls into the hands of the joker, I think in this case Morrison knew the readers would know that Damien would be in the joker’s hand and it gave the scene a omnious and dreaded feel because we knew no matter how clever or strong damien is (this is his first encounter with Joker)that Joker always gets on top. But thats my opinion.
sorry, forgot to add this. The issue will fail to gave any impression if you haven’t been reading most of Morrision’s review and I think that it why you guys and many others didnt have any strong opinions on it. Personally I love morrison’s batman run because he’s doing something different that the crime, tortured self, etc. that many writers have copied from Frank miller, Batman work such as making Batman into a dick.(Obviousley Miller was not the only great batman writer, Dennis O’Neil was also a great writer but every writer seems to take the batman the dick from Miller’s batman stories)
At least Morrsion trying to do new and creative stuff to a character that’s stories done by the best comic book writers that have been in the industry and for that he deserves some plaudits. Dont get wrong i don’t like work for just being different, its whole narrative, big ideas, how small details become big details (one of the many reasons why I loved the Moffat’s Dr Who), how there was a lot character study of bruce wayne rather than Batman and the whole idea of every batman story in the character’s history happened even those crazy alien stories.
I know this was a bit long and maybe a bit ranty but Morrison’s Batman work was the stuff that got me back into superhero comics maybe thats why I love it so much although I don’t read much superhero stuff anymore just Batman. Also I’m gonna drop B&R when Tomasi is on it. I only want to read Morrison’s stuff. Tomasi hasn’t done much to me like as a writer IMO, only lantern corps his other work were pretty boring such as nightwing run and emerald warriors.
On this blog, there is no need to apologize for being long and ranty. In fact, it’s encouraged.
Although cliffnotes aren’t frowned upon.
