That's Numberwang

Well, then I sure have the place for you.

The Comics Chronicles is a website that keeps records of all comic and trade sales. Want to see how many units you favorite shitty Bendis book sold last month? How about last year? It’s all there just waiting for you to check it out and make some sense of it all.

Whatever you do please don’t tell me how this years comic numbers are panning out so far. I don’t think I would be able to sleep nights if you did.

Jesus some of those figures are scary….I’m guessing that Vertigo titles must survive by trade paperback sales because some of those single issue sales are not great.

Interesting phenomenon with Captain Britain and Exiles as well….they were 2 of the lower selling 2.99 titles but still posted respectable numbers….but there were far more shitty 3.99 Dark Reign tie-ins lower down the chart than either of those titles. Thus proving conclusively that all the crappy 3.99 mini-series are pushing good cheaper regular titles off the shelves.

Sales of R.E.B.E.L.S and Warlord are horrible too and these are 2 of the better DC titles out there..

Also I was pretty shocked by the following numbers…
    238 Dead At 17 Afterbirth 1 $2.99 Image 5,584
    258 Red Mass For Mars 3 $3.50 Image 4,730
    263 Atomic Robo 2 $3.50 Red 5 4,531
    278 Dynamo 5 22 $3.50 Image 3,969

Try sleeping after that Jose, I dare ya!

  4. Thanks for the link!

Actually, without dressing it up too much, the TOTAL industry sales numbers are not faring too badly for a recession year, with this June not much off from other Junes in unit terms…

Individual titles year-to-year are a different story, though there are commentators who specialize in that more than I do. I mostly look at the macro numbers.

    • Thank you for doing what you do. It is a very interesting site to say the least. I will probably be linking to you at least on a month to let our readers know how the industry is doing. Thanks again.

      Jose

Yeah, it would have been interesting to see a pg count comparison on some of the 3.99 books compared to the 2.99 ones. I really does confuse me that no one has taken up arms about it.
