Rock Me Hero Again

Thanks to all you guys and gals who wrote comments on my last music post. Because most of what you guys had to say was positive I’ll start posting more from here on out. As far as actual music reviews, I may still be a little ways away from doing that. I am a lot more comfortable reviewing comics, movies and video games. But if an album comes along that I think you guys would be into I will definitely let you know. For the time being I’m just happy to share the music I like with you guys.

I’ll try to put up new music every Tuesday and Thursday. Rock Band has over 800 songs (and counting) to chose from so I am sure I won’t run out of good music to post anytime soon.

And for all you peeps who want me to talk some comics, no worries. Some reviews will be on their way.

J.

almost everyone I know LOVES Silversun Pickups, my gf is addicted to their latest single. But for whatever reason, I just can’t get into them. Not sure what it is, but I dig the rest of these songs, that Colbert song is hilarious, I’d never seen the video before.

    • That’s why I don’t think I could do good music reviews. For me, to like a song or a band I really have to feel the music. And that’s not something I think I could put into words.

I get where you’re coming from. I had a similar thing where all my friends were really into Elliot Smith but I just couldn’t get into his stuff. That was a few years ago but now I am slowly liking his music. I am in a different place in my life right now than where I was then and I think that has a lot to do with it.

This was the first song I had heard by the Silversun Pickups and I just immediately liked it. I checked out some of their other songs on you tube and now I’ll probably be picking up some of their music.

And that Colbert song is awesome. It’s actually a free download for Rock Band.

I’ve actually heard most of the album that features “Lazy Eye”, not sure what it’s called, but it’s like you say, I just wasn’t “feeling it”. I fucking LOVE Elliott Smith, I understand that his music can seem somewhat depressing at times, but it comes from such an honest and sincere place, that I can’t help but fall in love with anything he’s ever done. There was a scene in Royal Tenenbaums (which is one of my all-time favorite movies) that featured an Elliott Smith song. If you’ve seen the movie, you’ll know what scene i’m talking about, ever since that I’ve been a die hard fan. If you’re looking to get into his stuff try the album “Either/Or” and check out the video of his performance at the Grammy’s (or was it the Oscar’s?) from a few years back for his work on Goodwill Hunting. The song is “Miss Misery”, fucking haunting performance.

    • The way you feel about Elliott Smith is the same way I feel about Aimee Mann.
