Bionic 6

I’m starting to feel a bit better after having the flu kick my ass for that last few days. Not fun at all. Thanks to those of you who posted some get well wishes. I’m not at 100% yet but I’ll be there soon enough.

Looks to be another small new comic day this week but I’m not really going to complain. There are a few good books that need buying and a few bad books that will need ridiculing later this week on the blog. Here’s my proverbial list:

Amazing Spider-Man #604
Doom Patrol #2
Green Lantern Corps #40
Secret Six #13
Thunderbolts #135
Unwritten #5

How about you?

J.

    • Thanks and no I haven’t. I’ll be sure to look for it. Is it any good?

Beside The Beatles: Rock Band coming out tomorrow there are going to be 3 Freezepop songs made available to download for Rock Band on Thursday. It’s a good week for video games with plastic instrument controllers.

      • kurumais says:

i like it i think haley does the ooOOOo part really nicely
there was an article in ny daily news about how station dont play the beatles anymore because they dont want to seem like oldie stations we’ll see how long that last when 10 year olds are rocking it out to cant buy me love

    • That’s why stations don’t play the Beatles?

That’s kinda bullshit, right? Their music is timeless. Hell, everything after and including Revolver sounds like it could produced today. Tomorrow Never Knows was like the first drum and bass song and that was done in the mid-sixties. They were ahead of their time.

If this Rock Band thing takes off, like I think it will, you will be hearing a lot more of the Beatles on the radio and that can only be a good thing.

I also checked out that Kings of Leon cover. It was pretty good.

      • thetum says:

The Beatles get played almost non stop here in Orlando. That and fucking Van Halen.( seriously… Its just overkill on the Van Halen over here!)

      • Pobra says:

i just listened to a Top 40 countdown of the best Beatles tunes of all time as voted by the listeners on the radio this weekend. Long drive home from the cottage. It was very entertaining. “A Day in the Life” was #1, coincidentally my favorite Beatles tune.

      • kurumais says:

i lucked out the oldies station and the rock station here in nyc played beatles giving away beatles rock band and the complete remastered cds
my fav beatles, across the universe, came in in low 80’s in the top 101 countdown not sure where the two of us my other fav came in
anyway it was a good day to be in traffic on the way to the met game

      • MatthewHex says:

“Tomorrow Never Knows was like the first drum and bass song and that was done in the mid-sixties. They were ahead of their time.”

J – will you be getting any of the remastered Beatles cd’s? I managed to get hold of Revolver on Monday, and to be honest the difference between the sound on the new remastered stereo version and the original cd is not that great. I could hardly tell the difference. You do get nice new packaging but I dont think its worth purchasing 14 cds again just for that. Just to let you know.

    • Thanks for letting me know about that. Probably just saved me some money. I was thinking about buying them but I already have numerous versions of their albums on cd. I’m not keen on the idea of buying them all again.

I’ll wait for one of my friends to buy them and just listen to theirs.

      J.

Also, I know it isn’t out this week but I demand you guys review King City from Image, its easily the best new comic of the month and to be honest I’m fucking sick of avengers reviews.

    • You can thank Elliot for that last Avengers review. I am quite sick of talking about that book too. Well, at least on out video segments. I do enjoy making fun of it on the blog.

Was King City the book that was put out be Image and Tokyopop?

      J.

      • Locusmortis says:

Yeah, I think Tokyopop is in a bit of trouble since they lost their kodansha licences so Image is producing some of their stuff.

King City is a 32 page black and white comic, slightly oversized so the art looks extra great. The art has a sort of scott pilgrim feel to it crossed with an adam warren manga feel.

This is the kind of book that deserves promotion. I had a look at the sales stats for last month and it did something like 5k copies….that fucking Marvel Diva’s thing got 20k copies…and I know which book is 5 times better than the other.

  19. phil says:

ln combo with what l have in my pull box, if my wallet allows it, l’ll be getting:
    BN #3 (must have)
    BN-BATS
    GL
    Cry4Justice
    RedRobin
E.A. lris (VG17 spoke so glowingly about this comic, l figured l’d give it a more thorough looksee). Batman&Robin and because of WW’s recent guest appearance…who Ms. Scott was born to draw, my Secret 6 interest has been rekindled.

  20. Curtis says:

    Batman Blackest night#2
    ASM #604
    Incerdible Hercules #134
    Adventure#2
    GLC#40
    Kick Ass #7 fucking finally!!
