The Top 5 in September looked an awful lot like the Top 5 in August but there were a few differences. DC’s Blackest Night came in at the top spot while Cap: Reborn took second. In August these two books took the first two spots but in reverse order. Looks like they will be battling it out in the months to come. Batman and Robin sat comfortably in the third spot yet again while Green Lantern moved up one spot the take fourth. The yawnfest that was Ultimate Comics Avengers rounded out the Top 5.

As for the rest of the Top 25? It was good to see Matt Fraction’s Dark Avengers and Uncanny X-Men beat out New Avengers. Green Lantern Corps is inching it’s way ever closer to the Top 10 where it deserves to be. The sad part? Detective Comics is no longer on the list while TWO Loeb Hulk books are on there. What in the fuck is wrong with people? Seriously? One of the greatest comic titles of the year can’t crack the Top 25 while two of the worst comics I have ever read are in there sitting pretty? Fuck you fanboys. Fuck you.

  1. Antonio says:

    Including the top 4 books.

  2. comicbookdude89 says:

I only bought 1-7, 11, 13, 17-19, and 21. I’m glad to see Blackest Night take the #1 spot because its hell of lot better than Reborn. WTF does it take to get awesome books like AoA, Invincible, Invincible Iron Man, Detective Comics, and others to make it to the Top 25? WHY WHY WHY would ANYONE want to buy Hulk???? Why?!?!?!?!?!?! Heh. I like the fanboys suck tag Jose πŸ™‚ But I gotta say if it weren’t for the comic culture warrior show I’d be a blind sheep out there buying junk. So this is as good of time as anytime to say this: Thank you Elliott and Jose for introducing me and others to awesome books. For a while I was buying mostly crap and thinking it was good, but then I watched your show and bought the books (most of them) and realized what the better books were! Btw I read comic books on my way to and back to school and some kids will look over my shoulder and look at them. I bring the good comic books to show them! πŸ™‚ Like Ash Saves Obama πŸ˜›

    • You’re welcome dude. πŸ™‚

    • Locusmortis says:

Why can’t Dead@17 or Dynamo5 hit the top 200 comics? why? ….its because the stereotypical fanboys like stupid shit, thats the only explanation for Jeph Loebs existance.

Detective comics main problem may be that it is just too damn good for fanboys, I’d imagine that the writing and especially the page layouts are too much for their tiny brains to handle.

  3. Chris says:

No Detective Comics is soo lame.

  4. JohnnyHorror92182 says:

No Detective Comics on the LIST is GAYFISH!!!

  5. Matthew Guy says:

I bought 1-7, 10-14, 16-19,21 & 23 from the above list with my money. Plus Detective Comics from Greg Rucka & JH Williams III.

Just say no to Jeph Loeb.

  6. Zipblockbloody says:

I agree Invincible and Detective comics should be up there along with Spawn endgame and the Jason Aaron Ghost rider run.

  7. Antonio says:

well, if we’re talking about what SHOULD be in the top 25 then SCALPED has to be somewhere in the top 5-10

  8. hero vs. villian says:

At least Matt Fraction beat both Loeb and Bendis.
