First off, I have to say that I LOVE Planetary. Even though it is a bit pretentious and sometimes feels like a big “Where’s Waldo” of pop culture references, the sheer craziness kept me interested. I didn’t really care for the plot but I was fascinated by the imagination that is poured in the thing, like any of the wacky series Jack Kirby did for DC. But frankly, I don’t see the need for Planetary 27. To me, the defeat of the Four and the launch of the shiftship with Snow on board is enough closure. And it’s been soooooooooo long, that, as a reader, I kinda learned to live without knowing what is that “last thing” Snow wants to unearth. Works perfectly as an open ending, and even though I don’t doubt Ellis and Cassaday can surprise us yet again with another curve ball, I think the game’s already been played out.
