DC Had 6 of the Top 10 Comics in September

Posted: October 20, 2009 in Top 300 Comics

Gimme Gimme Gimme

The number one spot went to Blackest Night which beat Captain America: Reborn for the second straight month. Seems like more people are interested in seeing Elongated Man come back to life in zombie form than they are in seeing Steve Rogers “rebirth.” Batman and Robin, Green Lantern, Green Lantern Corps, BN: Batman and BN: Superman were the other DC books in the Top 10. I guess I am not surprised at all to see that droves of fanboys paid $4.99 for one of the worst comics I have ever read and helped Old Man Logan reach the #5 spot. That is so completely sad. You know what’s not sad though? Detective Comics managed to barely stay in the Top 25 through sheer awesomeness alone.

Marvel did pretty much rule the rest of the Top 25. The second issues of Marvel’s Ultimate U relaunch fared quite poorly if you ask me. That’s really too bad, huh?

And for those of us that care: Agents of Atlas #10 and #11 came in at the 135th and 136th spots respectively. Sigh…

  2. Matthew Guy says:

I’m glad DC is kicking Marvel’s ass in the top ten.

  3. Pobra says:

Good on DC. Sooo glad to see Detective at least in the top 25. That fucking book should be #1 every month. Oh well, at least that spot is being held by another respectable DC book.

  4. kurumais says:

yeah but there is still a lot of events and tie ins leading the charge i dont think we will ever see the return of the monthly title following their own independent storylines dominating the charts

  5. saar17 says:

No Loeb in the top 10! at last!

  6. Chris says:

Its amazing that Spider-Man can four books in the top 20…

  7. Ironmuskrat says:

Nice to see DC is doing so well, it looks like the fans have spoken with their wallets and Blackest Night is emerging as the clear winner in this current round of big crossover events.

I suppose my only concern after buying the first three Blackest Night comics is how the hell is DC ever going to top this series. I guess I will have to wait and see what happens, but I am enjoying the hell out of BN right now.

    • Matthew Guy says:

With a trio of DC anniversary issues of Batman & Superman 700 & Wonder Woman 600 (hopefully) starting next year will hopefully set off new starting points for the DCU Trinity of heroes in the post-Blackest Night Universe. Johns will be writing Flash (again) & Levitz (Adv. Comics). Hopefully in March or April (artists are late on event books is the new normal) once Blackest Night wraps up the “new” DC will bring positive changes that attracts readers to its titles.

      Matthew

  8. Locusmortis says:

Well I already predicted that DC would wipe the floor with Marvel in November and December, Blackest Night just kills Dark Reign stone dead.

I’m delighted to see DC climbing the charts but its worrying that REBELS only sold 11.5k issues despite being a brilliant comic.

Also…Beasts of Burden only sold 8.5k copies whereas moronic shit like Old man logan sells 90 fuckin thousand??? Fucks sake….

  9. Antonio says:

It’s great to see some DC books up there but they are ALL BN or Bat books.

Plenty of other books that should or could be up there.

I realize this will probably NEVER happen but some Vertigo books should be up there too.

    • But you know what? All of those DC books that were in the Top 10 were actually pretty good. All of the Marvel books in the Top 10 were complete shit. It’s just great to have GOOD books as the majority of the Top 10 for once.

      J.

  10. Go DC and good to see Batman is not the center of the sells for once.

  11. mbell028 says:

I noticed that AOD Ash Saves Obama was in the top 300 books sold congradulations Elliot
    Matt

  12. The only books I bought in the Top 10 were DC! I’m proud of my self! 🙂

  13. Antonio says:

I picked up all the DC books…… and Cap :/(haven’t read it yet but everyone says it sucks)

  14. MicahSkin says:

I want X-Factor up in the top 25. I’d also like Dave Batista to visit me in his wrestling gear and take me to a moderately priced dinner but that ain’t happening either. (Hey everyone! Buy X-Factor JUST to make me Illogical. Or arrange the Dave Batista thing. Either/Or)

  15. Bill Mills says:

Maybe Marvel will get a clue someday and start doing comics about superHEROES again instead of villains and psychos. Not holdin’ my breath though…
