DC Hits Back Hard in October Sales Chart

Hittin' Back Hard

What is going on? DC has the Top 6 best selling comics in October? Detective Comics moves up to the #19 spot from being #25 last month and it is now outselling Hulk? Are fanboys finally coming to their senses or is the CCW Nation just taking it to the streets and not tolerating shitty comics anymore?

“Ya, but there wasn’t an issue of Cap Reborn that shipped in October,” the Marvel Zombies will say. Well, you know what? If Marvel actually shipped their books on time maybe they would have cracked the Top 5. Just saying.

Feel that? A change is coming DC fans. Today the industry is in a better place but don’t be content with this small win. There is still much work to be done. We still have to get some more independents in the Top 100.

And yes, I noticed that Tony Daniel’s Batman #692 came in at the #12 spot. Gotta take the good with the bad.

I’m a little worried about when the BL mini-series end and how that will affect the charts… This has restored my faith in fanboys and comic book readers (a little bit…) 12 for DC and 13 for Marvel… All I gotta say about DA#10 is I read it in my comic book store… and after reading it Bendis completely demolished whatever emotional connection I once had w/ Moonstone… I can’t love that character any more now that she’s being written like a whore. I’ve never really liked BMBs Marvel U stuff… but I love his Ultimate U stuff (for the most part). On a happier note… WHOO-HOO!!! DC GETS THE TOP 6 BOOKS!!! SUCK ON THAT MARVEL ZOMBIES!!! BWAHAHAHAHA!!! No offense meant to any Marvel zombies out there… This is the best news I’ve heard all day! Lets keep this up. Oh, Uncanny X-Men#516 was the first work of Matt Fraction that I’ve ever dreaded… just to put that out there. I would say it was Dark Reign- The List: X-Men but the Alan Davis art was awesome, but Greg Lands “art” was awful in #516. If only Invincible and Ash Saves Obama sold like New and Dark Avengers… one can only hope…

Nice work on DC’s part, knocking Marvel out of the top five, hopefully someone at Marvel is watching.

However, Rebels and the Rebels Annual coming in at #157 & #168 makes me a little sad, if people would only check this book out, it should be at least a top 100 book I would think.

Kill Audio coming in at 241! Damn you Hot Topic! So how do you kill a Twilight Vampire? Steal their hair gel and sparkle lotion?

and Haunt #1 coming in at #29, I am sure that is a disappointment to someone considering the talent involved. But I am not sure what is considered a successful book, top 100? top 50?

Enough rambling for now.. I still need to read Strange #1!

    • I think it’s a pretty safe bet that REBELS #10 will land in the Top 50 (at the very least) next month. The store I work at ordered almost 5 times more than normal because of the Blackest Night promotion and it is selling very well.

  4. JohnnyHorror92182 says:

DC too the top six spots!? Victory Screech!!!

  5. Chris says:

I’m glad Detective Comics is maintaining its place. Its the only comic I don’t mind paying $3.99 (£2.80 in the UK) for.

I think the main thing that this top 25 shows is that people just love events. And love to read all the tie-ins regardless or quality.

  6. phil says:

Hey Jose, you gotta be a little bit pleased that fandom didn’t allow TD’s Batman in the top 10!
On the other hand though, are you kicking yourself for not taking E up on his bet? 🙂

    k…0..

  7. Deemar says:

It’s simple DC had better product

Marvel bringing the Big 3 back together is too little too late, “Heroic Age” indeed.

  9. Locusmortis says:

    To paraphrase the japanese…

“FUCK YOU MARVEL, FUCK YOU BENDIS!!”

  10. Matthew Guy says:

Ding dong Winnick Batman sold more than Shitty Shitty Daniel Batman.

    YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im worried MARVEL will start putting out more tie ins and events next year. There was no dark reign miniseries only tie ins and now marvel will start pushing out more 3.99 events books to obtain the top 5 spots in the charts. I hope the siege keeps being a 4 issue series and marvel doesnt expand it to 6 or 7 issues. Wasn´t civil war the first event which had up to 100 tie ins?
I´m sure there will be oneshots which follow the siege. I´m going to buy the first issue to see what´s it about, the only good thing about it might be Coipel´s art. If the story is bad it´s gonna be just a waste of his talent.

Hey looking at the charts, which was the last book to sell up to 1million copies and when jose?
