Who will be the lucky winner?

Hey folks, Elliott here with some very important news!  We’ll be alluding to this on the video channel later on this week, but YOU FANS who have made it a point to check in and read this blog regularly are going to get a head start on the rest, cuz’ I am now announcing the FIRST EVER CCW*TV BLOG CONTEST!

The winner will get an ENTIRE SET of BLACKEST NIGHT EVENT RINGS along with a copy of each TIE-IN COMIC that you had to buy to get each ring, courtesy of Mr. Melendez.  The books are:

Doom Patrol #4
Booster Gold #26
Outsiders #24
Adventure Comics #4
Justice League of America #39
Teen Titans #77 (replacing Blackest Night #5)

Rings: Green, Blue, Indigo, Red, Orange, Yellow, Pink (Star Sapphire)  (Sorry folks, the Black Lantern Ring IS NOT included.)

Pretty awesome, huh? So to enter the contest, here’s what we want you guys to do:  CREATE A CONTEST!

“Whaaaaa-? You want us to create the contest that we’ll then need to enter to win?”  NOPE!  All you have to do is come up with a clever contest idea.  Something that shows creativity and would be fun to participate in.  Something that Jose and I would actually be able to pull off sometime in the future.

For example, you could suggest that we hold a contest where viewers must write a haiku describing how Jose feels after reading a Bendis book.  That would be both easy to do and fun!

Simply put, to enter this contest you must create a contest.  The viewer who creates the contest that Jose and I like the most will be awarded with the grand prize!

Now for the rules:

1. Limit one entry per viewer please. ( We want you to really be creative and not just throw a ton of stuff at us hoping something sticks.)

2. All entries must be made in comment form on the CCW*TV blog. ( The winning entrant will be notified via the e-mail address they used when they registered with

3. If two entrants submit similar ideas, the one submitted first according to the CCW*TV blog time stamp will be given preference.

4. The judging will be done by Jose and I and our decision will be final.

5. The deadline for entering will be December 31, 2009 (the winner will be announced in CCW*TV SEASON THREE.)

6. The grand prize will be shipped via MEDIA MAIL and while we will pack everything quite nicely – Jose has bagged and boarded all the comics – no guarantees to the condition of the prize (comic books and rings) upon its arrival are made.

7. Our viewers overseas will be allowed to enter, but please be aware that if you win, it will take a lot longer for your prize to arrive.  (Postage is expensive, ya’ know.)

8. No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited.  (I really don’t know what that means but I’m CMA.)

I think that’s it.

Just so you know, this contest is our way of thanking YOU, the CCW*TV viewers who watch us and follow us every week.  We want this to be a fun experience for everyone, and even if you don’t win, we want you to enjoy yourselves.

So put you thinking caps on kids and CREATE A CONTEST!  The contest starts NOW!

See you on the flip side.

  1. AvS says:

Contestants must write a dialogue between a creator (writer or artist) and some character that the chosen creator has been instrumental in creating or developing in recent years. For example, Bendis and Osborne have a chat about overexposure, Johns and Jordan talk about discriminating against the color blind, etc.

  2. saar18 says:

Whaaaa’ Crazy idea for a contest.

My idea for a Contest is:
Try to read Ultimatum, every issue of Rulk that came out, Ultimates 3 in one day (It doesn’t suppose to take you more than 2 housrs), And after reading those go out a say that Jeph Loeb is one of the best writers in comics today! I DARE YOU!

  3. generaldark says:

MY idea is this “create your own MARVEL, DC, etc… EVENT!!!!” coming up what it would be about from how it begging to how it ends!

  4. Gate_jester says:

My idea for a contest would be to try to come up with the best/clever way to bring Bruce Wayne back “to life”.
Like come up with what you think dc will do.

  5. Pobra says:

in spirit of the prize you’ve chosen, I would say whoever can come up with the best Green Lantern style “oath” for CCW. Then we could form The CCW Corps!! Not sure what color rings we’d have though…

  6. Ironmuskrat says:

Wow, a contest idea.. Hummm… What would be cool?

    Ok, here is an idea.

Make Elliott and Jose into Comic Characters!

If Elliott and Jose lived within the pages of a comic book what would they be?

Heroes? Villains? Maybe a bit of both. Are Jose and Elliott working together or against each other?

What would be their origin stories? superpowers? weaknesses? What do you think their costumes would look like? Do they have a secret lair? Do they have a nemesis?

Do they exist in the Marvel or DC universe or perhaps someplace new altogether.

Try to be as creative as possible, write as much or as little as you want. But try to be as descriptive as you can. It can be just a short story or if you want do it in a role-playing game format like Champions or any system you want to choose. Its also a bonus if you can include drawings of Elliott and Jose in costume.

Well, I think that could make of a interesting contest =)

  7. Rod says:

    Contest idea:
Take a scan of a page or a few panels out of a comic with really bad dialogue of Elliott’s/Jose’s choosing, white out all the word balloons and have the contestants fill in the page/panels to actually make what’s going on work. The dialogue can be serious, funny or even break the fourth wall.

  8. phil says:

How about whoever comes closest to how BlackestNight unfolds? It would be the educated guess of the year!

  9. arp*09 says:

Hey, there CCW Nation! Long time viewer, first time poster of the CCW Blog. Here’s my idea for a contest.

Contestants must recompose an issue of one of the CCW’s worste reviewed comics to what you think would have it become superlative in the eyes of the CCW and submit it for review! One needn’t reword the entire comic. Only one scene, at the least, (although more pages can’t hurt ones chances) will do. In that scene you can test your chops as a creator and put forth what you think will have the CCW raving or you have can it be a satirical peice wherein the characters comment on and recognize the awfulness or nonsensicleness sorrounded them (the comic itself). The funnier and more original it is, the better. Remember, it has to be a comic either Jose or Elliot found utterly insufferable and upon reviewing it must have them at least smile will glee at its humor or stunned at its recompostion into something tolerable. So, with that, have fun, be creative, and let those scripting muscles flex and stretch.

  10. Fallows1985 says:

we could call John Anderson and go at it gladiators style except each person is a Lantern colour. “Green Lantern you will gooo on my first whistle!” lol

How about they send you a video of each person saying the Green Lantern Oath and the one who gives the best one, with so much awesomeness and whoa factor… wins 😀

  11. sam nuzda says:

i think the contast should be who can sit through the kick ass movie with keeping a straight face the longest

  12. MicahSkin says:

Ok. You take a comic panel, or a couple, depending on the amount of word balloons and make us fill in the bubbles for comedic effect. The catch is, you give us a list of words or topics that we HAVE to cover in the bubbles we’re re-writing.

  13. itsmeMorph says:

    contest idea.

Write a funny scenario between a comic book character/characters meeting its current/past writer/artist.

  14. Curtis says:

Contest: Elliot and Jose each make a list(top ten) of their favorite comic runs of the past year, based on reviews from the blog and youtube. The winner is the one with the most hits on your lists. tie breaker could be the one with the most exact hits.

  15. rodan56 says:

It could be a contest were you would ask for a the number of times something ha come up during the shows. For example how many times has green lantern been reviewed on the show, or more about how many times has Elliott talked about liking a book and then Jose does not. something fun that will get viewers to take a look back at old episodes.

  16. Mitiators says:

How about create a little Adventures of Elliot and Jose comic strip?
You know, something sweet like you two sitting around drinking coffee. Or maybe Red Bull in Jose’s case.

  17. StevieEvs says:

How about writing a paragraph bio explaining a big name comic character in the style of a famous novelist? How would Ian Fleming have written Bruce Wayne, or JRR Tolkien written Spiderman? Something like that?

ps, I think you guys are great, slurp slurp. And when I write The Adventures of Malory the Pirate Girl I’ll send you a free copy.

  18. mbell028 says:

I don’t have an idea for a contest, but you guys should have a comic culture warrior award show. You guys could make a show where we vote for the best comic of the year, best new series, best cancelled series, best hero, best villian, best reveal, and biggest suprise of the year. People could nominate they’re picks on the blog and you guys could pick 5 comics for each category and then have people vote again on the winners. I was thinking about this today and I think it could be a lot of fun.

  19. JasonTodd's#1Fan! says:

Contest: You guys could set up a quiz of random comic book trivia and/or CCW triva. All of the contestants who answer all of the questions correctly can be put into a random drawing for the prize or different prizes: Grand, 1st, 2nd, etc.

  20. Curtis says:

winner is the one he gets Jose to smile.

  21. blowshimselfupdude says:

First viewer to name all the comics that you’ve had on the shelf behind you throughout your videos wins.

  22. Mon-el4ever says:

You should make a list of your top ten comics this year and make us find which ones they are and who nominated them jose or elliot

  23. oliver ruel s de guzman says:

my idea of a contest would be a grassroots comic book campaign in your community.
subscribers should post a video vlog that tackles how they promoted comics in their area or community….this could cover giving it to your local library, needy kids or charities or organizing a mini free comic book day…the best entry should win top prize. (give em an absolute edition of a comic or something thats autographed) we need to promote comics now especially since the industry is dying..we have to give back a little….

  24. Kevin says:

My contest idea would be about how would you(the participant)manage your favorite company ( Marvel, DC, etc.) and how would you direct it creative endevears.

  25. efren2814 says:

My idea would be a geocache(GPS scavenger hunt) mixed in with a bit of trivia on the dead heroes that are returning as Black Lanterns. Find a person using a GPS answer a question with a set number of points, person with highest points wins. The same thing can be done online(web page scavenger hunt) just without the geocache, might be tricky though.

  26. Ok after weeks of thinking here is my contest idea:

Mad Libs: CCW TV Edition! What you’d have to do to win is use the normal format of a mad libs page but it tells a story about J and E’s lives behind the scenes! For example:

“Jose (verb) when he found out Agents of Atlas was going to be written by Brian Michael Bendis.” So for verb you could put something like “had a heart attack” (not that I want that to happen) or “stopped buying Marvel comics till the end of time” or something silly or random like that. Then you could divide the stories into catagories such as Most Funny, Most Accurate, Most Unlikely, Most Awkward, Weirdest Story, etc.
