The First Annual CCW Nation Awards

Hey folks, Elliott here.  As 2009 draws to a close, it’s time to look back on the year and come up with the CCW*TV’s “Best of 2009.” And since we always want to involve our viewers, and because Jose and I are too darn lazy, we’re putting the job of picking the best of 2009 in YOUR HANDS!

What we would like for you guys and gals to do is give us your nominations for who and what you thought were the most deserving of recognition in the following categories:

  • Writer
  • Penciller
  • Inker
  • Comic book (monthly)
  • Comic book (mini-series)
  • Graphic Novel
  • Manga
  • “Event”
  • Publisher

Once we get enough nominations, I’ll set up a poll for each category so everyone can then vote on who they think should get the CCW Nation Award.  Please only nominate your top 3 picks per category, and please list them in order of preference (1st, 2nd & 3rd place) because I will be using that to determine scores in the event of a tie.

Make sense?

Alright CCW Nation, hit me with your nominations!

  23. kurumais says:

Just an idea feel free to ignore this suggestion these are your awards after all

Who were the best writing teams we have pak and van lente, pamiotti and gray, and abbnett and lanning I think they all do really good stuff im not sure who I would pick
I bet there are other writing teams out there I cant think that did some noteworthy stuff this past year ,

Remember you were doing character of the week ? how about character of the year? Which character did you find most compelling this year? Which character really captured your attention this past year? Not your favorite character of all time. And it doesn’t have to be a main character it could be a supporting character that had a really geat year .

    My nominations
    Namora
    Ares
    And ghost from the thunderbolts

Honestly I could have named 3 more AoA for my nominations but I narrowed it down to namora because she was the most dynamic in a physical sense with how she just jumped out of the page when it came time for action she also surprised quite a bit with her personality .

Just an idea to add to the awards
    kuru

    Controversy time!
Ok, I know I’m getting off topic and I should have emailed this, but for some reason I can’t get outlook to work.
A couple people have nominated Adam Warren’s Empowered as best manga, which is kind of funny. Do you guys think it really classifies as a manga? Even Warren himself doesn’t refer to it as a manga, acknowledging that only the style of the art is heavily influenced by Japanese comics, but the subject matter, tone and storytelling are pretty much American (if not mainstream)
If being illustrated in a style that is radically different from the mainstream American superhero book is enough to label the thing as something completely different, then where do we classify Skottie Young’s Oz books? Or Pax Romana? Or Elektra Assassin for that matter?

    What do you guys think?
