Hey folks, Elliott here. After sorting through all the nominations, I’ve whittled the nominees for Best Writer to the following candidates:

The poll is now open! Coming Up Next: Best Artist!

  1. Morlock50 says:

You have to give Johns credit for writing an event miniseries that is already being compared to COIE as the greatest in DC history.

  2. Antonio says:

I voted for Morrison because he is a sick, twisted freak

  3. DK says:

    Why no Krikman?

    • These are the writers that got the most votes in the poll we took last month for the CCW Awards. Elliott and I had nothing to do with the names on the list. People who read the blog voted and these are the top writers they picked. I would have liked to see Kirkman on here myself but he didn’t get enough votes.

  4. Chris says:

Jason Aaron for me out of those.

  5. Dan Griffin says:

I got to go with Geoff, he the reason i read comics today. GL: Rebirth was the first comic i have ever read.

  6. generaldark says:

hey i wanted bedard on here for REBELSs but he didnt make it so its only far that kirkman isnt on there >:P

  7. MicahSkin says:

I just wish there’d been some PAD love on there. Oh well, Geoff is good enough. Altho I will admit, not everyone liked this past year of X-Factor sos I can see why he’d not be on there.

  8. MANACONDA! says:

i hope 2010 is an even better year for my boy matt fraction.

looking forward to his thor and casanova vol.3, and hopefully iron man maintains its high level of quality.

  9. Damn… I gotta choose between Fraction and Johns… hmm… I am voting for Geoff Johns. Blackest Night, GL, and other books he’s written have been a thrill to read. As much as I love Invincible Iron Man, Fraction’s Uncanny has been sucking a lot unfortunately… Jeez that was a hard choice…

  10. Armin Tamzarian says:

Gonna have to go with Johns.

Blackest Night has been just fantastic.

  11. Locusmortis says:

I’m not surprised at the results so far, Johns has had an overall good year. There are other writers like John Wagner and Pat Mills who have done great work this year but only british/irish viewers would really have a chance to read(which is a real pity but I get that anthologies just tank in america…except Shonen Jump…which is something that marvel/dc should look into copying)

Perhaps you can give Kirkman an award like the honorary oscar for his lifes work or something.

  12. StarkOryan says:

Matt Fraction’s Iron Man and Grant Morrison’s first arc on Batman and Robin are the some of the best of 2009. I’m just not as into the Geoff Johns thing as everybody else, I suppose. Did like his Adventure Comics stuff with Manapal, though.
