Well, it’s Wednesday and the start of a new comic week. What’s on your mind?
Would anyone be interested in me posting a Blackest Night thread this week?
So did Flash Rebirth #6 finally come out today?
Yes. Yes it did.
was it any good?
Haven’t read it yet but I have already had a couple people message me that it was terrible. I’ll check it out next time I go to work.
Anybody see the new Trade Dress for Invincible Ironman?
Wow. Very interesting. That last cover design didn’t last very long. Guess it was made especially for Stark Disassembled.
My first impression of this new cover design is that I really like it. I like it a lot. I may have to make a post out of this later today. Thanks Dan.
I get a neck cramp from trying to read the title. I think it’s awesome that they’re changing things up instead of keeping it all the same. The cover looks awesome, though a little hard to read.
More importantly, anyone else notice the $3.99 price tag?
Marvel has been notorious for charging $3.99 on issues that begin new story arcs. That’s why I dropped Invincible Iron Man in the first place. If I remember correctly though this may by an extra sized issue. Whether or not it will have any reprinted BS in it remains to be seen.
Does anyone else get a sliders feel to the text part of the cover? I like it, great Modern Sci-Fi feel to it.
i like it, but i LOVE the current one a lot. too bad its gonna be gone 😦
ill have to frame them and put them on my wall
Should I drop Captain America or not?
I’m on the fence
I dropped it. It’s just so boring right now.
I dropped it too. The quality went down and the price went up. That’s a recipe for droppage.
yeah it’s time to say good bye to cap
Just haven’t been enjoying it
What do you think of the artist?
i personally still enjoy it, and i liked the nomad mini enough to enjoy the back up story
The Books that True Blood the tv show were based off of are now becoming comics over at Dynamite Entertainment.
I did read about that this morning. It has the potential to bring new customers (especially women) into comic shops which is always a good thing.
I do watch True Blood but really had no interest in reading the books because the two I hear are quite different. I may give the comic a shot though.
I like the show, i find that True Blood is ways better then Twilight because they follow the rules of Vampires.
You know like. Burning up when in the sun.
If Bill the Vampire sparkled in the sun I never would have made it past the first episode.
The Guy that plays Eric the Vampire would have been a perfect Thor or Cap.
His name is Alexander Skarsgard, and yeah he would be an AWESOME Thor.
Sparkled in the sun? Seriously?
Ah, real vamps take enough dots in fortitude to be able to soak sunlight.
I couldn’t get into True Blood since the 2 episodes I watched seemed like Skinemax movies with sex scenes that bordered on hardcore. I have no problem with porn, but I don’t want it in a show where I’m supposed to try and follow a plot. After watching every episode of Six Feet Under, American Beauty, Towelhead, and True Blood, all I can figure is Alan Ball really likes extreme displays of sexuality(he also seems to put more nude females in his works than most gay men would).
Speaking of Twilight…
…If this is true, I want to cry for the future of this country(and hope that girl never reproduces).
Bwa ha ha ha!!! Oh, that letter was rich. That has to be fake right? And when I when I say fake I mean somebody intentionally mocking the Twilight fandom. If that is indeed real my death can not come soon enough if that is this world’s future.
Not a bad choice but aren’t there going to be more Percy Jackson films? I don’t think this kid being the star of two franchises would work out well.
The Percy Jackson kid can’t work his way outta wet paper bag
If they want a teen actor i’d pick the kid from Forbidden kingdom
Oh No. I accidentally rented that movie last week while I really wanted Hero. That kid was such a pathetic schmuck. I guess if you want a good replacement for Toby McGuire, who’s sole defining characterization of Peter Parker was “nerdy pathetic schmuck”.
Ouch. Ya, Forbidden Kingdom and Hero are like night and day quality wise.
I rented House of flying Daggers and Forbidden Kingdom at the same time to have a double feature. Yikes! after HoFD I had to turn FK off. I watched it a few days later while doing homework. I was hoping that Kurt Russel would appear to lampoon the whole thing.
And that kid was very annoying.
If you want to see a really great newish kung fu film try to track down “Ip Man”. Hasn’t come out here domestically yet but you can find it in Chinatown and import dvd sites. I have also seen torrents up for it. It’s easily the best martial arts movie I have seen in a while.
This looks great. I’m gonna have to look for this. Hero and Flying Daggers were excellent.
My problem with Forbidden Kingdom was that it was hyped up as a Jackie Chan/ Jet Li movie but it was really about this annoying kid. Other than that I thought it was an enjoyable movie.
I saw forbidden kingdom, so I’m gonna go out on a limb and assume hero was the high quality film, nes pa?
Jose could you please review how Flash rebirth was AWFUL and shouldn’t have happened?
Your pretty much the only fearless comic reviewer who doesn’t care how he looks when he reviews. And since Johns is the golden boy of comics right now, no one listens to me when I say Flash rebirth ended in the cheesiest, cliche way ever.
BUT Blackest night is still strong and remarkable (so clearly Johns is still great) but the whole rebirth of Barry Allen was completely unneeded.
Please Help me Jose… 😦
I didn’t bring a copy home with me to read but I will try to the next time I go into work. Overall I have thought that the series has been awful. Issue #5 was better than the first four but not enough to save the series. I don’t know how it ended but by what you are saying it sounds like “not very well.” I will definitely check it out when I get a chance and get back to you.
Yeah I will admit issue 2 and 5 to me where highlights, and its not that the issue ending bad, it started off really intense but then some really cliche cheesiness was brought in. And I wouldn’t have hated it so much if it was delayed from November to freaking February! That Long and this is what I got…
Man, but for a 2.99 book (and again if it came out sooner) I would be fine. But, the more I reread this issue, the more I feel like, its just embarrassing that Barry is brought back to begin with.
Yeah, Overall, I expected better from Johns… But a few moments stood out.
I found some old Deadpool books for a buck each! 🙂 Anyway what did everyone think of Blackest Night#7? I predicted the ending, but it still managed to put a huge grin on my face!
I also predicted the ending of this issue like 6 months ago. The issue was fine but I am now finding myself wanting the series to end already.
yeah I’m starting to want this series to end too. I’m sick of seeing all my fav DC characters dead and fighting dead people. But there is only one more issue left! Can’t wait for the payoff!
I also find myself excited for Brightest Day, but I’m hoping it’ll keep my interest enough to buy all 26 issues (27 if you count #0). What are you guys’ thoughts and hopes for Brightest Day?
Does anybody else think this mini is going on too long? Maybe it was the break in January, but I feel the series lost it’s momentum. This last issue was just average in my opinion. Also, Nekron is turning into a lame bad guy.
The series has been pretty much style over substance and I have come to terms with that. But you are correct when you say Nekron is turning into a lame big bad. Hopefully DC can turn this around before the end.
I totally agree about Nekron now being a lame big bad. Same thing can probably be said about Black Hand too. Both of these big bads scared the crap out of me when they first appeared in Blackest Night, but now they’re almost laughable.
Just compare Nekron to the Anti-Monitor, or even the Beyonder. Was this guy an old GL villan or something?
Short answer is yes. Long answer can be found here:
i think wut i dont like is that i expected so much more after #5 which was the best issue, but i think my expectations r set to high now….
this is who jose reminded me of when i first started watching ccw especially after the first big BMB rant i saw
what were you and E talking about when you mentioned Shooter and Valiant in a recent show?
It was a throw away comment I made while we were talking about Marvel I believe. I forgot what context I used it in but the long and short of it is Jim Shooter is currently in the process of trying to revive Valiant Comics. We could see them back in the industry by the end of the year…Wouldn’t hold my breath though.
This is besides the Gold Key characters at Dark Horse? That would be great. Early Valiant up to Unity was the greatest run of comics i’ve ever bought.
I definately agree that Blackest Night 7 was good, but I do feel it needs to end. I’m not too happy about Brightest Day because It’ll be bi-weekly on top of having Green Lantern and Green Lantern Corps books as well. I wish they would just go back to having just Green Lantern and Green Lantern Corps. I could be wrong, but doesn’t brightest day seem to be similar to what Marvel is doing with Siege in bringing everyone back. I’m not saying that either DC or Marvel stole the idea from one another, but it seems that both are shifting from Darkness (Final Crisis, Blackest Night, Dark Reign, Siege) into whatever event is after Siege for Marvel and Brightest Day for DC. As long as the quality of books are good I’m fine, but I’m just about done with Marvel I haven’t even read a single book from Siege and I don’t plan on it.
