I’ll wait for the reviews. I wouldn’t mind if DC tried to do their own Ultimate line to attract new readers, instead of retconning the characters in the DCU every twenty years or so.
The funny thing about the Ultimate line was that is was said to originally be for younger and/or newer readers until Millar made it extremely dark(that issue of Hank Pym & Wasp fighting would make Bendis proud). After the Ultimate Universe became so popular, it seemed that the Marvel 616 Universe emulated it by making their universe a dark world full of anti-heroes & bad guys and the villains they fight. Now that the Ultimate Universe isn’t free of continuity and the 616 is just as dark, I really don’t understand why Marvel keeps the Ultimate books around anymore. They aren’t selling as well as they used to.
That’s part of what irked me about the Ultimates Line, Smart. I went in with the undrestanding that the U-verse were aimed at bringing newr viewers in, the next thing I see is everybody starting to turn into the Authority.
My hope for Earth One is…that they DO bring in newer readers and that these books establish in the years to come, a new ststus quo.
That the upcoming tales are starting out as graphic novels, my hopes might be dashed even before they’ve begun.
Without having seen an issue of the Guardians of the Globe, I’m already hoping this mini series becomes an ongoing…ahhhh, my hope is restored!!!
Until we see more of the books, it’s kinda hard to tell. I just hope they work out better than the All Star line. They sound similar; books telling stories of DC’s inconic heroes while trying to entice new readers without all of the continuity. Unfortunately for the All Star line, the editor in charge gave us Miller’s Batman(that editor no longer works at DC). They’re definitely breaking new ground for a mainstream superhero book by telling a continuing storyline through TPBs(or was it hardcovers? I forget) instead of monthly 22 page comcs.
anyone read any of the alan moore green lantern corps stuff? the annuals or tales of the corps?
is it good? and is it relevant to the current geoff johns stuff at all?
While it sucks when writers change things, at least Johns usually explains the change through a retcon(making Max Lord human again is the only time I can think where he didn’t do that unless you use the lame Superboy wall punch explanation). My big pet peeve of Johns is the NC-17 level gore he uses in so many of his comics.
Hmmm…I think you are looking at the situation all wrong. It needs to be handled retroactively while at the same time we are using forward thinking also while staying true to the here and now. Polar bears will never accept anything less. A compromise must be reached that rectifies this problem and also gives Mama Cass and Hootie and the Blowfish their own sovereign states.
Your approach is both heavy handed and fair minded while at the same time as being orange! Now I’ve never been one to demand that the elderly should have microwaves as their only personal possessions. But desperate times call for desperate measures!
Now we are getting somewhere as we remain perfectly stationary. Orange was never a part of the plan. Sabotaging these proceedings with your high intellect and toilet humor will only succeed in fixing and destroying everything we have gone out of our way to not avoid. We apparently must just disagree to agree and leave to eat our Kraft dinner in peace.
We’re only talking about a handful of 10-page stories he did for some of the lower-tier GL’s at the time. They’re nice little stories, but nothing groundbreaking – You could grab ’em all collected in one of the older printings of that ‘Alan Moore’s stories of the DCU’ TPBs (That’s what I did anyways), which would be more sensible than hunting down the original issues.
And as for Geoff Johns, he’s stuck pretty close to Moore’s original Blackest Night prohpecy and cultivated the ideas/characters from that story pretty well, IMHO.
chris evans is very affable. i liked him as johnny. he’s blond and blue eyed and has a good build so he fits physically. but how good an actor is he? remember he has be giving orders to thor and iron man eventually. does evans have the presence to pull that off? iron man played by robert downey jr no less, can evans act like the living legend of WWII opposite an actor as good as downey? and then throw in sammuel l jacksonas nick fury… that a pretty high bar to act opposite against. maybe he can i havent seen him enough to tell.
jeremy renner is going to be hawkeye that again raises the bar for any actors in the avengers movie. this guy is fantastic actor with great presence and charisma. after watching every episode of the unusuals i was convinced he would be an excellent cap. he just exuded quite confidence and command in that. so if hawkeye is going to come to the table with that whomever plays cap better have it in spades
I always thought Matt Damon would make a pretty solid Cap. I’m not a HUGE fan of his, but he has the look and the star power to make it work.
I’ve only seen Chris Evans in the Fantastic Four flicks and Push. I don’t think he’s a bad actor, but I’m not sure if I can see him bossing Robert Downey Jr. and Edward Norton around.
Damon I always saw more of as a Daredevil/MattMurdock type…Seems a bit short for Cap. I think the height can be worked around for DD. Chris as Cap,I don’t know. There’s something about seeing someone play different characters from the same club house, but then again I woudn’t mind seeing Michael Keaton come back to the Batman franchise, so that he could play the Joker. No, no, really.
dee at first i thought valley was too old for caps origin but ive been watching human target and every episode im more convinced he would have been a tremendous cap
human target btw is fun actiony show with some cutie pies thrown in for good measure
this week they had a great hand to hand fight scene that was as good as movie level igts usually tv fight scenes arent as good but this was top notch
well worth watching
I liked him as Johnny Storm but couldn’t they find an actor who hadn’t already played a Marvel superhero? I think his cocky demeanor would be a better fit for Hawkeye or U.S.Agent.
FYI- I am still working on trying to get some mini reviews up. I haven’t forgotten about it, just been kinda crazy over here all day. Hopefully tonight they will be up but there is a good chance it will be tomorrow. We shall see.
Okay, so what did people think of Batman 697? I read it fort it was okay… but I just didn’t get how they revealed the identity of Black Mask? For anyone who picked it up they didn’t explain how Dick came to the conclusion.
Read it from the rack at my LCS. God, Daniels is such a boring artist. CBR gave this 3 and 1/2 stars. Big surprise. The new Black Mask is more lame than Nekron. And that’s really lame.
dc is going to be flooding the market just like marvel so what do you want to see from them? everbody has favorite d list character that they think should have more screen time anyone at dc you want to get a mini?. what story are you waiting for from dc? which hero do you think deserves a year one treatment?
first id like to see another dr midnight mini loved the first one.
i just saw JL crisis on 2 earths i would love to see a crime syndicate year one mini by grant morrison a story that shows their rise to power and battles with each other, other baddies and the good guys to get to the top.
id love to see another hawkman series starring the geoff johns version barring that id love a hawkman year one mini
a speedy/roy harper year one mini would be cool
im a big fan of geoff johns’s version of crimson avenger id like to see her get some screen time
i LOVED the son of vulcan by scott beatty and keron grant id like to see more of that
id like to see some alan scott and jay garrick solo stories
id like too see someone fix dr fate
im waiting see what greg rucka has in store for flamebird
id like to see a really good captain marvel series set in the dcu (the kids book is already good)
im glad birds of prey is coming back id like too see huntress get a back up story here and there in detective
i want dick grayson back as nightwing and in his own book
i want tim drake to start acting like tim drake again
gotham knights was a good book for the bat frachise i think dc needs a book where the batfamily can crossover
i thought dc needed a batman and robin book for years tim was pretty much a solo character not batman’s protege they need to keep a book starring who ever is going to be batman and robin going no matter who it is
I would love to have Captain Marvel back in action and with a book. I didn’t like Trials but the idea of a CM defending earth from magical threats from other dimensions is cool (not really new but still it is the most recent source I can find).
People always make comparisons between him and Supes and we know that as long as they are on the same universe CM will hardly be given a chance to shine that much (he may be given his moments, but not a stable position in the spotlights). But the magical is far less explored, so it would be a perfect area for him to shine.
And just to pick on the Super/CM comparisons, given to the right hands, a ‘magical world’s finest’ (CM and maybe Z, any other suggestions) would be totally awesome!
I’ve been thinking about getting the kids line Shazam book. I’m no kid (don’t ask my mother) but I thought it might satisfy my Captain Marvel fix. Any thoughts on the “Billy Batson” book?
I personally didn’t like much cause of a couple of issues on the first issues (heh), but that is only due to personal preferences. From what I saw it is a good reading for those into that kind of line, and I have only heard wonders, so, if similar kid lines pleases you, I would say go for it 😀
the mike kunkel issues are really really good the art is so much fun and new folks on it are good but its a kids book through and through i buy for my nephew and read before i give it to him . he loves it
If you only would have added four more “Creeper”s to your comment, then maybe I would have been able to understand what you were trying to say. Until then I guess it will just remain a mystery.
I’d LOVE a Elongated Man: Year One. Ralph Dibny is one of my favorite characters, even though he has been pretty much thrown under a bus latley. I’d like to see a re-telling of how he met Sue and became a detective. Maybe have him work on a case with Batman and Barry Allen.
I wouldn’t mind a Wonder Girl mini to get her back into Wonder Woman’s world and away from the Teen Titans trainwreck.
Captain Marvel deserves some love.
I’d like to see a totally NEW Hawkman and Hawkgirl. Maybe they can be reborn after their deaths in Blackest Night.
A Spectre series would be much to my desire. Maybe as an anthology of characters like Dr. Fate, Spectre, Shadowpact, Zantanna, etc. etc.
That’s the sad part. I dig anthologies, you get multiple stories and there is no need to collect EVERY issue. Your right about fanboys not wanting them though 😦
I really hope Hawkman and Hawkgirl are brought back by brightest day. It would suck to leave them dead after that tragic scene in BN where they are killed. Call me hopeless romantic.
Hey Deemar, after seeing Black Dynamite I truly believe that Michael Jai White needs to be in a superhero movie. Why has this not happened yet? And, no, Spawn does not count.
MJW is a real life superhero the sumbitch ain’t human.
I’d love too see him in a 70s inspired Luke Cage Powerman movie, other than that Black Dynamite is pretty much a superhero in the blaxploitaion tradition.
Before I got really deep into comics as a kid Shaft, Dolemite and Foxy Brown sorta filled that spot for me, Shaft in my mind is right up there with Batman and Spider-man.
I really don’t want to see DC throw a bunch of shit at the wall just to see what sticks. That’s what Marvel is always accused of. Seeing as how they’re not going to listen to me, some books I wouldn’t mind seeing…
* Blue Devil (in his original costume please)
* Swamp Thing (back in the DCU since that is where all of his best stories took place)
* Martian Manhunter (so much untapped potential; he’s a detective, a shapeshifter, a superhero)
* Aquaman (he needs to live up to his household name)
* Captain Marvel (let’s put Billy back in the red suit and give adults their own Shazam book)
* Hawkman (bring him back)
* Firestorm (with Ronnie)
* Animal Man (cool power and I love that he’s a family man before a superhero)
* Night Force (Baron Winters is way underused)
* Atari Force (I know they don’t have the rights anymore, but how expensive can they be?)
I kind of hope this whole blackest night/brightest day thing is a giant reset for the DCU without being a full on retcon with no one remembering anything of past events. Yeah I hope this doesn’t turn into a Marvel “do whatever you want, it doesn’t matter in the end” thing.
I’ve felt this was a great read. Good story, great art to match. and i can’t wait for the next issue. I thought it was great for anyone that doesn’t really know much about Green Hornet. (Like myself)
Oh, my bad. I didn’t read Year One yet. I forgot that there are more than 1 GH book. I’ll get back to you after I have actually read the book you were talking about.
I really liked Green Hornet Year One #1! I’m happy I bought it. I usually steer away from books by Dynamite since I can’t stand their overuse of variant covers and I’ve heard bad things about the main guy in charge. While the Kevin Smith book was OK, this one has me excited for the next issue. I love the 1940’s era and I love that it takes place in my city of Chicago(technically I live in the Western Suburbs but I’m close enough).
I liked it enough to check out the second issue, but the art had Liefeld anatomy in some spots(which wasn’t Smith’s fault) and I felt Hornet’s interaction with his wife to be a little clunky. I will say that if we get another ass shot in the series, without sounding sexist, I hope it’s the female Kato’s. LOL!
So, The Brave and the Bold is my favorite ongoing comic right now. I’m not even a big fan of a lot of the DC characters. I just love these kind of baggage free great superhero stories.
This has to be the most interesting and confusing open thread I’ve seen. Oranges, polar bears, and creepers. It’s times like these that I marvel at the CCW. No, I did not intend any offense by using the “M” word when referring to the CCW. Apologies if that offended anyone.
Some people just don’t. I am not one of those people. I will admit he has written some shit in the past but I do like the majority of his stuff. That being said, I don’t know if he is the right guy to take over Power Girl.
There is no way to go wrong when you’re taking over Power Girl, she is so complete that is like she comes with a map and instructions. The important stuff compels you to give them attention and they mess your head so much that all you gotta do is follow those strong impulses you’re feeling… Oh wait, you mean as a writer, right? I am sorry, talking about PG messes with my head 😛
I have to agree with you there, I feel if Winnick keeps the light tone he’ll be fine, but as soon as he tries to get dramatic and “dark” you might as well start kicking dirt onto it.
i liked a lot of his green latern and about a year of his outsiders after that he seemed to just come off the rails plus his slavish devotion to the resurrected jason todd is killing me. thats one character ive grown to hate!!! everyone writes him like a completely different person. the worst and most unnecessary resurrection i can think of
I don’t know I like Judd Winick for the most part. I personally liked his recent run on Batman, Daniel’s current run on the title is so shitatious it’s making it look like it was fucking gold.
Those first ten or so issues of Green Arrow/Black Canary he did were also pretty good.
That’s my feeling. I don’t think Winick’s recent 5 issue run was that impressive (especially wtih the Bagley art) but compared to what came after it looks epic.
I’m with Jose on Winick. He isn’t a perfect writer, but I’ve liked more of his stuff than not. His Barry Ween is probably the only comic to have me laugh out loud. I also liked his work on Batman. Too bad editorial forced him to make the resurrection of Jason Todd more complicated than he wanted and later made the character’s personality a huge mess through different writers.
Just out of curiosity, is this an open forum to all things pop culture related? Or just USA comics?
If I wanted to talk about the most recent Air Gear Chapter, or how Heavy Rain really is the greatest video game to come out in a long time (storytelling wise) would it be alright?
Everything pop culture related from anywhere. Just be careful not to give out any spoilers. Especially for Heavy Rain. I haven’t played it yet but plan on buying it in the next month or so. 🙂
Oh awesome. Yeah, Heavy Rain is a great PS3 investment. Lots of fun.
It made me more eager to try out Indigo Prophecy. I was wondering tho, its the same game as the French title Fahrenheit right? The only difference is the titles? No content?
All I can say without giving away specific details is Heavy Rain really redefines storytelling. I mean we all know video games were meant to tell a story where you are involved, but this game takes it to a whole new level man.
I don’t even bother spending money on Bendis/Millar/Robinson comics anymore. I felt like they weren’t really writers. They were just wasting my money. But Once I played HR, I knew it was something special in the history of writing.
If you like deep involving stories, characters, like Metal Gear 2, then HR is a fine choice. The cool thing is every individual who plays it really sees it differently 🙂
Yes, Indigo Prophecy = Fahrenheit. I don’t really think there were any drastic cuts for the US release.
I agree with you. Though I do enjoy mindless games at times, it’s the ones with the great stories that I love. You already know I like MGS but another one of my favorite games of all time (because of the story) is Silent Hill 2. It’s probably the most depressing game I have ever played and I make it a point to play it at least once a year. The story has so many layers to it and really does say a lot about what shapes us as individuals. I can go on talking about SH2 forever. 🙂
Ah good to know the French and USA title are the same. I’m still grieving the cuts from Yakuza 3.
Silent Hill one and two are personal favorites of mine. But, when it came to the layered scripts that I was drew to, it was always Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. Its shame now that when I hear the word Nemesis I’ll have to think of Mark Millar when I SHOULD think of Capcom.
I’ll never know why the entire RE series (but only up to 3. Resident Evil 4 and 5 don’t count in my book) I guess it was just my personal taste. Growing up, I was so intrigued at this chaotic state. But, slowly, Zombies became overrated. Well, I guess just overdone.
But, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Metal Gear, Yakuza – All reasons why I play games in the first place. Thank you game makers of Japan!
And Thank you France for Heavy Rain. No doubt it will be remembered like the classics of Japan.
If you are new to the CCW blog and want to be able to post comments, here is some advice:
Having a childish screen name like Dan DiDildo will not help you out. While it is creative (and a little funny) it speaks to your level of maturity and it is well below what we tolerate on here. Also, making broad generalizations about my personal life and as to why I dislike Brian Bendis also works against you.
Dude, you almost made me spit beer all over my computer. Luckily it only shot out my nose and hit my review copy of Dark Avengers #15. Twas quite close.
So it’s not a total waste of paper after all. Zing! The boys at marvel should use the tagline, “It soaks up beer, so there’s that.” Or just go with, “Winner of the Cottonelle Softest 32-Ply Toilet Paper Award 2010.”
I don’t agree. Toilet paper has to come clean from factory so you can clean yer own shit out of yer bottoms. It is just good for lazy people since they don’t need to clean, the paper already comes with shit all over it.
He he. No, it is not out of line. You’re cool and the gang. Just something about having “dildo” in a screen name screams “I’m a douchenozzle”. Plus your screen name is the same as your youtube name. No worries.
And no, AvS is not Avi (to my knowledge). I like to think that AvS stands for “Aliens vs. Snapper Turtles.”
Sorry. I just thought with your multi-post banter with Jose above, that you guys were friends. I thought with the “Av” in your screen name, you might be Avi.
He’s probably too busy reading comics where the heroes are “beating off heads” with his Madonna CD plays in the background to pay attention to my little post.
I hate to say it, but I was almost tempted to pick Batman up when I flipped through it and saw Catgirl. She seemed like such a fun & cheesy idea. Then I remembered Battle For The Cowl and reconsidered. I’m really surprised that DC is putting JMS on Superman & Wonder Woman but Batman is stuck with Daniels.
I’m not picking on you generaldark since I haven’t read his current run. It just seems that they would put a bigger name on Batman for #700.
Marv Wolfman would make a good pick since he’d know how to write Dick Grayson as an indiviual. For artist I’d go with (ideally) Micheal Lark. But he’s more a Marvel guy.
you must have missed marv’s run on nightwing it was pretty bad more of a spotlight for vigilante then nw. plus he retroed in an old flame and dick was all was all moppy and emo.
Yeah I’d like Rucka too, loved him writing No-Man’s-Land despite the shitty art work. And I have to agree with generaldark, Daniel’s run isn’t terrible its just not the best, 2bh I found last months issue was better than this months. I have to say this for him, he’s good with description.
Yeah, that revelation of Jeremiah Arkham as the new Black Mask was terrible. Jeremicah Arkham’s point as a character is to keep control of Arkham Asylum, which he blew up in BFTC #1. I guarantee you he thought of who it would be at the last minute, I was thinking Jason Todd.
I would have liked that a whole lot better to be honest, although how many identities can Todd have, Robin, Redhood, psychotic Nightwing, Batman, Red Hood again… next year he’ll take over as Catgirl.
i read the no man’s land novelization by rucka as well as the comic i lent to a couple of non comic fans it went over really well with them that was definitely my favorite bat event
Speaking of that run, Judd Winick just got pushed aside for a THIRD time for Tony Daniel for #698-699, but at least Giullem March will be doing the art.
Anyone read the magazine Back Issue? Great stuff. I enjoy reading it more than actual comic books these days. Where else am I gonna find an interview with Fred Hembeck or a long article about John Byrne’s run on FF?
I’m behind on my reading of it, but I have every issue of it. A great mag! I’m happy to hear Twomorrows going to be adding 16 pages of color to each issue next month.
I’m a huge Superman fan but I’m not very excited for War Of The Superman. It seems like another Siege; a short mini only in existence to take the status quo from point A to point B. New Krypton had me really excited in the beginning but, like Blackest Night, I’m now more excited for it to finally be over.
to me it seems like too many events for Superman first New Krypton, then world of new krypton then last stand then war of supermen. 2bh what I really can’t wait for is the Batman Beyond mini-series, but I am looking forwards to Bats being back.
Nor am I! Krypto is my favorite supporting cast member from the Superman books and practically the only good thing Loeb has done in comics is bringing him back. If you don’t like Krypto, you have no soul!!!
I love me some Krypto, but all the other Kryptonians need to GTFO. I’m also excited for Batman Beyond, it was my favorite cartoon growing up, but I’ll trade wait it.
Me too. I thought when they said tho’ they would put their best talented artists on the mini-series, I thought they meant well known Batman artists like Andy Kubert and Jim Lee, they put on a alot of people who I haven’t heard of, I don’t like that ):
Well I’m not that excited, I want to be because it could be a lot of fun, but I don’t think that Dick has had time to live up to the full potential of his own Batman. So maybe if it had been more time I would be as excited as you, but I will have to see if they can bring him back with class, unlike cap.
I’m down with that, although my battery is starting to wind down. The only thing that I can add is teasers for the Red Herring Avengers will be up soon. Man, I can’t even be bzzzz’d about that, Damn Kirkman and his Guardians parody…. stealing my amateur thunder.
I was 1st Kirkman, damn you, I WAS 1st ( he slinks away wishing to drown his sorrows in beer, but alas, he does’nt drink…. why great rao, why? )
Okay 25…no, 24 to go, somebody get us over the goal line….please!!
Some of you guys have given voice indirectly to one of my biggest fears with BlackestNight. Given what some of your wishes are, if they bare out that will me Johns will have ressurected some if not most, if not all of those that have gone down in battle. Leaving what will inevitably be one of the greatest mini series with one ot the biggest anti-climactic letdowns ever.
Hell, give Mera her own book and let that fish guy and the rest of cadaver central, rot
While I think that may be a justifiable fear, I don’t think everyone will be brought back immediately. Before Blackest Night came out, I was very intrigued by the whole premise of zombifying all the dead of the DCU. Especially considering the number of characters that have died since BN started, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect that some of them will be undone.
But even if they’re peppered back in bit by bit, it’s still sickening to me, Rob. Of course, you’re right, for all practical intents and purposes the likelihood that some are coming back, I guess is unavoidable.
Batman was a stunt to begin with, and the Hawks were practically ensured of returning because of their reincarnation deal. What gets me is the popularity play that Johns will ring outta this; furtering my disdain for super ressurections.
I like the idea of undoing the deaths, myself. Most of them were bullshit shock tactics, anyway. It’s not like Sue Digby’s death is ever going to be compared to Jean Grey’s or anything.
I agree. Even if it was a good death, no ones taking that story away. Comics aren’t novels. They continue telling stories involving the same characters for years & years(some for over 7 decades). If every death lasted, not only would some of us have been deprived of stories involving Magneto and the Joker, the companies would start running out of good characters.
One could say though that keeping the same characters around for decades is restricting creativity.
Also if creators are given incentive its not hard to create new characters, Kirby created the whole fourth world, Kirkman created the Invincible universe etc.
I agree with Locusmortis. Why do we constantly need the same tired characters back? I like Barry Allen, but no one really needed him back. I’d rather a new Flash alltogether.
Same goes for most other characters. When Superman died, it meant something and told a great story, but his return was triumphant and part of the plan all along.
I’m tired of seeing shock value deaths and returns. Geoff Johns is the worst at this. He killed Superboy off (when he was relevant and liked) for no reason and then brought him back (for no good reason other than fan service).
If we didn’t have comics using the same characters, we wouldn’t be reading about most of the superheroes we’re used to since the big ones were all introduced between the late 30’s and the mid-60’s. Also, is getting a new secret identity in the Flash costume really a new character? It’s just the same thing they do with Doctor Who. There’s no guarantee that the character would take off anyway. Look at the new Blue Beetle, Firestorm, and Atom. While they may have their fans, none of them can be considered commercial successes.
Imo, I just don’t get retiring a character just because one writer and/or editor decided he should die. Even if the death was well done, who’s to say a new writer couldn’t tell even greater stories with the character if they were revived(like Geoff Johns & Hal Jordan).
While I agree Johns has killed too many characters, I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt for now since he was setting up a lot of them for Blackest Night. If every corpse remains dead after #8, I’ll join the angry villagers marching on his house with torches & pitchforks. As for Superboy, Johns said he didn’t want the character to die. I think it had a lot to do with the lawsuit involving the rights to the Superboy name.
There isn’t much room to grow if it’s the same characters just being respawned every 3 months. Where’s the risk?
Having a new character under the Flash’s cowl would allow for a new personality and new stories. Instead of the “…and everyone just got younger!” approach Geoff Johns did in Rebirth.
Blue Beetle is a character that would have a LOT of success if he was given a little push. There isn’t a resurgance of fresh material because a lot of writers now are fanboys and just want the old back. It’s why “Secret Origin” gave us a dated Superman and why “Rebirth” has brought back a long gone Flash.
There have been a lot of Flashes(most, if not all of them are currently alive). For some reason, the most popular ones are Wally & Barry. DC probably doesn’t see the need to keep bringing in new ones when the old ones work best(for now). I can understand why you’d like to see new characters instead of the same ones over & over again but, since most of my favorite DC characters were created before I was born(if not my parents), I’m happy that’s not the case. I also look to superhero comics as an escape from reality. If everyone got old and died(permanently), it would be as depressing as real life.
I feel Blue Beetle was given a pretty big push. He was brought out right after Infinite Crisis when DC had a bigger buzz going for it than Marvel did(One Year Later fixed that, though). He was also featured in toys and cartoons. I believe his comic was even given at least one reprieve after cancellation due to poor sales. Granted, part of the reason he wasn’t successful, imo, was because they killed off the previous Blue Beetle as a catalyst. Unfortunately, it’s a double edged sword. New characters don’t usually work unless they have a relationship to a pre-existing character. Those relationships usually involve the death or injury of the previous character which rarely sits well with the fans.
Geoff Johns was around for the Bronze and/or Modern Age, not the Silver Age. I love his “new” origin for Superman as well as his bringing Barry Allen back even though I started reading DC around the time of the Man Of Steel reboot and Wally West becoming the Flash. A lot of the times it has to do with a personal preference and not just the era during which a fanboy grew up reading comics.
Except for Darkseid, the New Gods have never really caught on. Look at how many times they have had series cancelled. I can’t speak for Invincible since I realized I wasn’t a fan after reading the first 2 tpbs but is it really selling huge #’s? That’s how a company determines success.
Walt Simonson’s Orion series was amazing, you’d be well served to pick up the back issue pick up the back issues of that. Orion, Lightray and Big Barda were important parts of Giffen and DeMatteis’s JLI as well. The original New Gods series are widely hailed as being a magnum opus and influential to many subsequent comics creators
Invincible is running for 70+ issues and Kirkman is making enough of a living off it and Walking Dead to quit working for Marvel comics. That sounds like success to me.
I’m not saying the New Gods are bad, I’m just saying that they were never huge sellers.
Again, I have no proof one way or another as to how well Kirkman’s books sell(I’m sure they’re at least some of Image’s biggest sellers), but I’m sure the money he’s getting from the studios developing Invincible & Walking Dead have a lot to do with why he left Marvel. The other reason he left is that he grew up as a huge fan of the Image “Universe” and didn’t grow up a fan of Marvel & DC like most of us did. Poor guy. LOL!!!
Morlock) Oddly, I do agree that Sue Digby’s death won’t be compared to Jean Grey’s. Sue would have to be reborn about a half dozen times for that to happem. 😦
SA8) It the big two can only manage to put out quality stories featuring the same baddies a bajillion times over, then maybe the artform/business needs to perrish!
I really hope Clash Of The Titans doesn’t suck. I’m terribly fond of the original. One of my favorite movies as a kid. Every time I see a preview for the new movie, I get nervous.
Oh and did anybody read American Vampire yet? This is a comic that I have been so excited for as I am a big Stephen King fan. I feel that it definitely meet my expectations, two very good stories that were well worth my money
I also liked American Vampire. Wasn’t expecting much from it but it turned out to be prettay, prettay, prettay good. Elliott and I taped a review for it today so it will probably be up later this week.
Ya, I’ve looked into it and there is no way to from your side. Sorry. Just always double check your comment and don’t post drunk and you’ll be fine. 🙂
I read it and I sure liked it, the two different stories meshed very well together, I can’t wait for more. Very rarely will Vertigo books disappoint me.
Batman#700 is going to be written by Grant Morrison w/ art by Tony Daniel, Andy Kubert, and Frank Quitely. Even though Daniel is doing some of the art I’m still on board for this. Also Joe Madureira is doing some art of WW#600. I’ll be interested to see that because I am a big fan of Madureira’s art.
Wow. 223 comments!!! Surely this is one for the record books! 🙂
Kubert and Quietly outweight the team of horse and shit of Tony Daniel. I knew for a long time that Morrison would write this issue, it’s gonna be the BOMB YA HEAR ME! 😛
I am interested and I have only heard about the Shadowland story but haven’t heard any specifics yet. I have really been impressed with Diggle’s run so far. Just wish it would come out on time.
Didn’t you feel, say, cheated, for lack of a more apt word, when in issue 504 what would have been nothihg short of an epic donnybrook between DD and the Hand vs the Hammer agents under de la Torre’s maginficent artistry was omitted in favor or the wake of the fight? To see the carnage left in the streets the morning after and to hear the sole remaining HAMMER agent recount what happened the night before…..damn. Just imagine how incredible that would have been had the arc been paced a little more meticulously so room could have left in that issue 504 to have de la Torre go crazy with this war on the streets of Hell’s Kitchen. Just imagine………
Aprpos Shadowland, little detail to not detail has been officially released yet, but not long ago Mr. Wacker, the new editor of DD, was on the CBR and while there at the same time I managed to snag what information I could. The informatiin I managed to get could be be considered a spoiler for it’s perhaps the spark to start off Shadowland, so follow these words with caution or not at all for I’m not sure whether the following could be considered a spoiler or not. All right? So, on CBR I made a suggestion to Wakcker for what I though would be a cool story now that he oversees both DD and Spidey. My suugestion was wouldn’t a gang war on the streets of NY for territory and clout between DD’s Hand ninjsa and Mr. Negatives Inner Demons or even between the Kinpin and The Hood as the former tries to reclaim his postion power over organized crime be a pretty cool crime or truf war story to tell in the pages of DD? Mr. Wackers answer? He’s “way ahead” of me. Not a direct quote but it seems to suggest that since Shadowland will take up the rest of the year for DD and it’ll begin in July, it could very be what ignites what I assume will be a mini series while DD goes on hiatus as did Captain America while Reborn ran for the summer and remainder of the yeat. What you think?
Ya, I did feel a bit cheated about that. I actually mentioned that in our video review of that issue.
I really, really like your idea. So, why aren’t YOU writing for Marvel? If that is in fact what will happen I will be all over that series. Sounds fucking brilliant. I can also see the monthly going on hiatus in order to tell this big story in a mini. Like you mentioned, they did it with Cap and they are currently doing that with Black Panther for Doomwar.
What you have told me about Shadowland has me quite excited. Thanks for letting me know about that.
Nothing I said there is confirmed, of course. It was probably just Mr. Wacker entertaining me as he does so many others when he visists CBR or teasing my fansboy wishes. But what a wish, huh!
Did you get chance to dive into DD 505? It looked to be the start of a filler arc, didn’t it?
Ya, it’s a 3 part filler arc I believe. I still liked it though. DD in Japan can almost do no wrong with me. And where the hell is the new issue? It’s been at least 5 weeks since the last one, right? What’s the point of doing a fill on arc when it’s just going to be late? lol
As much as I didn’t want to like 505 since it’s a filler and all, I did. In additon to a decent enough story revealing for the first time that are leaders of the Hand spread out across the world each conrtlling a different continuent and should have had more focus on Matts mission to unit said hand leaders rather than focus on the impudence of Bakuto and the other members attempt to “reieve” him of his position, but substitute artist managed to provide some stunning artisty that didn’t have me miss de la Torre as much as I thought would. This fill in artist, though, Chechetto,is no where near de la Torre’s calaliber, tobe sure, but damn if his here wasn’t stunning at times. There’s cause for me to pick up the second issue but the knowing that this’ll in all likelihood be meaningless in the greater picture of things still irks me a bit.
Apropos the release of the present arc, (a THREE ISSUE arc, as you’ve poiointed out), it’ll take FIVE MONTHS to see conclusion. It’s ridiculous. The final issue was actually just solicited in the Marvel June previews earlier this week. Sales on the title have been taking a steady but noticeable dip for a few months now. Having the title ship so infrequently certianly won’t help those sales. Marvel probably of the mind that Shadowland will garner interest in DD thus help sales on the book when it returns – assuming it goes on hiatus for Shadowland, of course. In May, though, in lieu of issue 507, there will be a one-shot titled “Cage Match” set to look back at the history between DD and Luke Cage, for as the solict says “Shadowland will tear them apart”, or something to that effect. I think I might pass.
So….DC’s Earth One.
Breaking new ground?
or Same ol’, same ol”?
Sure, they’re not Marvel, but still….
Your President Obama aren’t you? c’mon admit it we know he’s a geek
Yeah, All Star was a kinda the glass is half empty deal. I just hope Adam Hughes” WonderWoman makes the transition to E1 and not get lost in the mix.
I’m interested in what Geoff is gonna do with Batman so I’m buying.
Hell from what I understand it’s going to be OGNs big chunks of story twice a year, so depending on the cost it’s something I’m willing to support.
I’m excited to see JMS take control of Superman’s mythos. I’d like to see what he does.
I really would like to see a Wonder Woman: Earth One as well, but by a different team.
anyone read any of the alan moore green lantern corps stuff? the annuals or tales of the corps?
is it good? and is it relevant to the current geoff johns stuff at all?
Even if it was relevant, Geoff johns would/will just alter it in time anyways (if he hasn’t already.)
I mean yeah he’s a good writer, it’d just be nice if he didn’t have to change years of history to do it. Its kinda insulting really to the buyer.
While it sucks when writers change things, at least Johns usually explains the change through a retcon(making Max Lord human again is the only time I can think where he didn’t do that unless you use the lame Superboy wall punch explanation). My big pet peeve of Johns is the NC-17 level gore he uses in so many of his comics.
nice off topic answer.
anyone else got a real one?
I don’t know. If I give you an answer will you just chastise/insult me and call it “off topic” if it’s something you don’t want to hear?
J.
42.
No, I believe you are thinking of either Arrested Development, Super Mario Bros or Debbie Does Dallas. Definitely one of those four things.
J.
Right Again! I disagree. I believe it is an issue of thinking globally and acting like it’s locally!
J.
J.
Kraft peas dinner! Now we are talking!?1!
In all seriousness, I do believe we have just done the rough outline for Grant Morrison’s next comic.
J.
Agghhhh man, the D.C. solicits were released, and they told you NOTHING of Batman #700, EPIC FAIL!
yeah but they gave away a lot of green lantern, green lantern corps and batman and robin.
So johnny Storm is up for the Captian America role in the new movie. Well I don’t think that falls into continuity.
chris evans is very affable. i liked him as johnny. he’s blond and blue eyed and has a good build so he fits physically. but how good an actor is he? remember he has be giving orders to thor and iron man eventually. does evans have the presence to pull that off? iron man played by robert downey jr no less, can evans act like the living legend of WWII opposite an actor as good as downey? and then throw in sammuel l jacksonas nick fury… that a pretty high bar to act opposite against. maybe he can i havent seen him enough to tell.
jeremy renner is going to be hawkeye that again raises the bar for any actors in the avengers movie. this guy is fantastic actor with great presence and charisma. after watching every episode of the unusuals i was convinced he would be an excellent cap. he just exuded quite confidence and command in that. so if hawkeye is going to come to the table with that whomever plays cap better have it in spades
if he takes it im hoping for the best
Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice.
Nice fucking model!!! Honk! Honk!
From the list of actors I’ve seen so far I’d take Evans over the guy from the Office.
I’ve pretty much given up the hope Mark Valley might get the role, damned fickle Hollywood obsessed with youth.
dee at first i thought valley was too old for caps origin but ive been watching human target and every episode im more convinced he would have been a tremendous cap
human target btw is fun actiony show with some cutie pies thrown in for good measure
this week they had a great hand to hand fight scene that was as good as movie level igts usually tv fight scenes arent as good but this was top notch
well worth watching
It is a good show and it convinces me even more so he’d be the perfect Cap
It’s just Hollywood wants a 20/30 yr old for the part
I liked him as Johnny Storm but couldn’t they find an actor who hadn’t already played a Marvel superhero? I think his cocky demeanor would be a better fit for Hawkeye or U.S.Agent.
FYI- I am still working on trying to get some mini reviews up. I haven’t forgotten about it, just been kinda crazy over here all day. Hopefully tonight they will be up but there is a good chance it will be tomorrow. We shall see.
J.
That’s cool! I realize this site isn’t your job so don’t kill yourself getting them up. We’ll still be here whenever you get the chance.
I thought it was okay, but I still dnt get how he found out who Black Mask was.
dc is going to be flooding the market just like marvel so what do you want to see from them? everbody has favorite d list character that they think should have more screen time anyone at dc you want to get a mini?. what story are you waiting for from dc? which hero do you think deserves a year one treatment?
first id like to see another dr midnight mini loved the first one.
i just saw JL crisis on 2 earths i would love to see a crime syndicate year one mini by grant morrison a story that shows their rise to power and battles with each other, other baddies and the good guys to get to the top.
id love to see another hawkman series starring the geoff johns version barring that id love a hawkman year one mini
a speedy/roy harper year one mini would be cool
im a big fan of geoff johns’s version of crimson avenger id like to see her get some screen time
i LOVED the son of vulcan by scott beatty and keron grant id like to see more of that
id like to see some alan scott and jay garrick solo stories
id like too see someone fix dr fate
im waiting see what greg rucka has in store for flamebird
id like to see a really good captain marvel series set in the dcu (the kids book is already good)
im glad birds of prey is coming back id like too see huntress get a back up story here and there in detective
i want dick grayson back as nightwing and in his own book
i want tim drake to start acting like tim drake again
gotham knights was a good book for the bat frachise i think dc needs a book where the batfamily can crossover
i thought dc needed a batman and robin book for years tim was pretty much a solo character not batman’s protege they need to keep a book starring who ever is going to be batman and robin going no matter who it is
so thats my wants and hopes what yours?
From what I saw it is a good reading for those into that kind of line, and I have only heard wonders, so, if similar kid lines pleases you, I would say go for it 😀
Thanks for the suggestion. I just can’t help but wonder what Locusmortis thinks.
the mike kunkel issues are really really good the art is so much fun and new folks on it are good but its a kids book through and through i buy for my nephew and read before i give it to him . he loves it

If you only would have added four more “Creeper”s to your comment, then maybe I would have been able to understand what you were trying to say. Until then I guess it will just remain a mystery.
J.
heh
snark
Always and forever. 🙂

In related news DC marketing has no idea why their all-ages line hasn’t broken into the main market. Stay tuned.
Fate, Spectre, Shadowpact, Zantanna, etc. etc.
Spectre series would be much to my desire. Maybe as an anthology of characters like Dr. Fate, Spectre, Shadowpact, Zantanna, etc. etc.
great idea heck but we comic fans havent supported anthology titles in a real long time so im not sure dc would want to swim in those waters
as for ralph bats and barry they could call it jla csi
That’s the sad part. I dig anthologies, you get multiple stories and there is no need to collect EVERY issue. Your right about fanboys not wanting them though 😦
I do miss Shadowpact. 😦
But we are getting a Zatanna ongoing.
J.
I really hope Hawkman and Hawkgirl are brought back by brightest day. It would suck to leave them dead after that tragic scene in BN where they are killed. Call me hopeless romantic.
All I want is a Big 7 JLA (Grant Morrison style)
Teen Titans get their shit together
and a decent Aquaman book
DC do that and maintain the GL books I’ll be a happy man.
Hey Deemar, after seeing Black Dynamite I truly believe that Michael Jai White needs to be in a superhero movie. Why has this not happened yet? And, no, Spawn does not count.
J.
MJW is a real life superhero the sumbitch ain’t human.
I’d love too see him in a 70s inspired Luke Cage Powerman movie, other than that Black Dynamite is pretty much a superhero in the blaxploitaion tradition.
Before I got really deep into comics as a kid Shaft, Dolemite and Foxy Brown sorta filled that spot for me, Shaft in my mind is right up there with Batman and Spider-man.
he was in the dark knight
Ya, but he wasn’t the Dark Knight. Dude needs his own movie.
J.
I agree with your JLA comment. It’s time for a reboot.
You want the JLA that’s been recently rebooted to be rebooted?
Hell yes! Have you read that comic lately? Stick a fork in this series, it’s done!
* Hawkman (bring him back)
* Firestorm (with Ronnie)
For some reason, I wouldn’t mind seeing a Punisher Max parody book starring Wild Dog.
I don’t know about a parody, but I loved Wild Dog as a kid.
Anybody read Green Hornet: Year One #1?
I’ve felt this was a great read. Good story, great art to match. and i can’t wait for the next issue. I thought it was great for anyone that doesn’t really know much about Green Hornet. (Like myself)
Best Kevin Smith comic I have read in years.
J.
Green Hornet: Year One was written by Matt Wagner, Kevin Smith wrote The Green Hornet.
Oh, my bad. I didn’t read Year One yet. I forgot that there are more than 1 GH book. I’ll get back to you after I have actually read the book you were talking about.
J.
Can anyone say whethr or not the Green Hornet by Smith has the same type vibe as his Daredevil, drawn by Joe Q?
I found it kinda dull. But I really liked his DD run.
Agreed.
J.
Ditto.
Would anyone else want to see a new Jamie Blue Beetle series? Would it kill DC to throw him a little love??
That’s a character that can become an icon with the right exposure.
Look for him in Justice League: Genaration Lost Bi-Weekly Maxi-Series. He’s helping out the remaining members of the JLI.
Honestly though, Blue Beetle is too good to be stuck on a team of C-Listers.
Better them then The Teen Titans.
True, but he’s JLA material. Unless Robinson is on that book then I hope Jamie avoids it like the plague.
Yeah, you don’t really want to see Blue Beetle in a threesome with Donna and Starfire over a bottle of Grapa, do you?
This has to be the most interesting and confusing open thread I’ve seen. Oranges, polar bears, and creepers. It’s times like these that I marvel at the CCW. No, I did not intend any offense by using the “M” word when referring to the CCW. Apologies if that offended anyone.
I guess you can never truly know what to expect in the CCW comments section. I am quite proud of that. 🙂
J.
I am offended and besmirched.
O M G, William Regal, is that you……..or do you go by Steve, now? |:-)
If I say yes and pretend I’m that dude will I have to fall through a press table?
Either that or you could wrestle Goldberg while completely intoxicated and get fired from WCW.
I am purposefully mixing up parts of the Regal mythology but it still works.
J.
Then yes,… yes. Call me Steve.
Mmmmm… Goldberg.
Oh, Micah…you gots a one track mind.
Did you watch that Batista movie yet?
J.
why do people not like judd winick???
Some people just don’t. I am not one of those people. I will admit he has written some shit in the past but I do like the majority of his stuff. That being said, I don’t know if he is the right guy to take over Power Girl.
J.
J.
This thread scares the hell out of me and yet I cannot look away…
mm-hm, yeah. that’s “Jersey Shore” for me.
Welcome to the party pal.
J.
I go away for one fucking day and I come back to this!?
You really have been missing out.
J.
I can see that! Fuckin’ dance off’s and shit… man
Man i didnt check this post for like 5 hours, and it really went to crazy town. I fuckin love it.
Me too, Tom. Me too.
J.
Woah. I haven’t checked on this blog since this morning and the first thing I see is this? I don’t even know where to begin! 🙂
You gotta keep up CBDude. No rest for the wicked.
J.
Just out of curiosity, is this an open forum to all things pop culture related? Or just USA comics?
If I wanted to talk about the most recent Air Gear Chapter, or how Heavy Rain really is the greatest video game to come out in a long time (storytelling wise) would it be alright?
If not, I understand, Just thought I’d ask.
*thread
Everything pop culture related from anywhere. Just be careful not to give out any spoilers. Especially for Heavy Rain. I haven’t played it yet but plan on buying it in the next month or so. 🙂
J.
J.
ATTENTION PLEASE!
THAT IS ALL.
J.
*It was at that moment that poor Tommy O’Vibrator realized there was no community that would have him.*
Dude, you almost made me spit beer all over my computer. Luckily it only shot out my nose and hit my review copy of Dark Avengers #15. Twas quite close.
J.
Is it at least good at soaking up beer?
Aye, it twas. Though it’s is preferable as a substitute for toilet paper, by Crom!
J.
So it’s not a total waste of paper after all. Zing! The boys at marvel should use the tagline, “It soaks up beer, so there’s that.” Or just go with, “Winner of the Cottonelle Softest 32-Ply Toilet Paper Award 2010.”
http://www.instantrimshot.com/
J.
I don’t agree. Toilet paper has to come clean from factory so you can clean yer own shit out of yer bottoms. It is just good for lazy people since they don’t need to clean, the paper already comes with shit all over it.
LOL. Well played, sir.
Is my screen name out of line? I’ll change it if it is. I just made it since that’s what I started going by when I used to post on Newsarama & CBR.
Btw, if it isn’t a secret or anything, is AvS Avi?
J.
Actually stands for “artist v. scientist” but I think you got something going there.
The name’s Joey.
AKA:
Sorry. I just thought with your multi-post banter with Jose above, that you guys were friends. I thought with the “Av” in your screen name, you might be Avi.
No need to apologize to me; although you probably should apologize to Avi.
He’s probably too busy reading comics where the heroes are “beating off heads” with his Madonna CD plays in the background to pay attention to my little post.
(Avi killed in CCW 3.32. LOL!!!)
The “shut the fuck up” moment at the end of 3.31 was gold too.
It’s not Joey as in Joey Jo Jo Jr. Shabadoo!?
😦
J.
That’s the worst name I’ve ever heard.
J.
O.K. then, would Mark Millarkey, or Brian Michael Bendisaurus work?
i just read the first 2 issiues of tony daniels batman run and IMHO….its not soooo horrible…………:(
Ummmm…you should read them again because they ARE that horrible. Then again, you did like Identity Crisis. 😛
J.
woah woah lets keep it above the belt here man….ow >_<
Booooosh!!! 🙂
J.
lol
nice one frisky
I hate to say it, but I was almost tempted to pick Batman up when I flipped through it and saw Catgirl. She seemed like such a fun & cheesy idea. Then I remembered Battle For The Cowl and reconsidered. I’m really surprised that DC is putting JMS on Superman & Wonder Woman but Batman is stuck with Daniels.
I’m not picking on you generaldark since I haven’t read his current run. It just seems that they would put a bigger name on Batman for #700.
I’d like to see Greg Rucka do BATMAN.
Spoiled!
Spoiling reveals from boring comics don’t count. Now, spoil the ending of BL #8 and we got a problem.
Spoiler Alert!
Hal Jordan fights Black Lanterns in Blackest Night #8.
J.
As long as Morrison stays on B & R, I’m cool.
Tony Daniels on Batman keeps my wallet fat.
Ah man, I bought the Kraven’s Last Hunt issue a few months ago and it was awesome!
J.
That one is an amazing story indeed! I really loved it.
I recently read Kraven’s Last Hunt and all I gotta say is: That was some freaked-out stuff. I liked it. A lot.
Anyone else uber excited for Return of Bruce Wayne? Pirate Batman just screams awesome. And Dr. Hurt. We all need more Dr. Hurt.
I’m defninately excited. Moreso then War of the Superman.
I’m a huge Superman fan but I’m not very excited for War Of The Superman. It seems like another Siege; a short mini only in existence to take the status quo from point A to point B. New Krypton had me really excited in the beginning but, like Blackest Night, I’m now more excited for it to finally be over.
Yea, War of the Supermen is just useless, and I haven’t been following Superman since Johns left, atleast JMS will be taking over soon.
to me it seems like too many events for Superman first New Krypton, then world of new krypton then last stand then war of supermen. 2bh what I really can’t wait for is the Batman Beyond mini-series, but I am looking forwards to Bats being back.
Is it wrong for me to want all the Kryptonians to die except Superman, Supergirl, and Krypto? Or stick them in the Phantom Zone at least.
Throw Krypto into the Phantom Zone too, and call it a day.
Oh oh. Elliott will not be happy to hear that.
J.
Nor am I! Krypto is my favorite supporting cast member from the Superman books and practically the only good thing Loeb has done in comics is bringing him back. If you don’t like Krypto, you have no soul!!!
LOL!
I love me some Krypto, but all the other Kryptonians need to GTFO. I’m also excited for Batman Beyond, it was my favorite cartoon growing up, but I’ll trade wait it.
I’d like to see some Kryptonians survive. It’d be too convient if they ALL died.
I’m SOOOO excited for Bruce’s return. Dick and Damian are awesome, but I’ve missed Bruce.
Me too. I thought when they said tho’ they would put their best talented artists on the mini-series, I thought they meant well known Batman artists like Andy Kubert and Jim Lee, they put on a alot of people who I haven’t heard of, I don’t like that ):
Even if you haven’t heard of them, all the artists are fabulous, especially Stewart and Irving. IMO much better than Jim Lee.
You are not alone in having that opinion ullar.
J.
Well I’m not that excited, I want to be because it could be a lot of fun, but I don’t think that Dick has had time to live up to the full potential of his own Batman. So maybe if it had been more time I would be as excited as you, but I will have to see if they can bring him back with class, unlike cap.
Wow…..this thread is either the craziest or the greatest thing I have ever read
Can’t it be both :P?
I’m still amazed a conversation about Toilet paper could be so engaging lol
have you seen the trailer for luc bensson’s new movie? looks like a fun comic culture movie the trailer is up on iwatchstuff
Thanks for the heads up! That movie looks fantastic.
Ya, that flick looks like it will be a lot of fun. I am actually quite excited about it.
J.
no kidding this looks great, thanks kurumais.
Wow, 151 comments and counting. That must be a new record.
Yes, it in fact is.
J.
I want to see this one strive for 200 or more!
SA8) It the big two can only manage to put out quality stories featuring the same baddies a bajillion times over, then maybe the artform/business needs to perrish!
damn convex contact lenses!!!
Hey if we get Vibe back it’ll all be worth it
Plus I wanna see the issue when Vibe has to figure out what the hell an Ipod is.
He he. I’d actually like to see that too.
J.
I really hope Clash Of The Titans doesn’t suck. I’m terribly fond of the original. One of my favorite movies as a kid. Every time I see a preview for the new movie, I get nervous.
Anybody been watching March Madness over the weekend?
Some really great games like Mich. St. and Maryland that was clinched at the buzzer.
and of course there is Cornell which is overcoming the odds and walking all over the competition.
Wow…this thread is really close to hitting 200 now
Well god damn Kansas messed up my whole bracket.
Georgia Tech got their asses handed to them today (Sunday)
Not happy about that
I was so shocked and happy to see Kansas eliminated. In my opinion they were the only team standing in Syracuse’s way of the finals
Oh and did anybody read American Vampire yet? This is a comic that I have been so excited for as I am a big Stephen King fan. I feel that it definitely meet my expectations, two very good stories that were well worth my money
What did everybody else think?
I also liked American Vampire. Wasn’t expecting much from it but it turned out to be prettay, prettay, prettay good. Elliott and I taped a review for it today so it will probably be up later this week.
J.
You watch Curp Your Enthusiam?
I believe it is CurB Your Enthusiasm, lol! 🙂
I wish these posts had an edit feature.
Ya, I’ve looked into it and there is no way to from your side. Sorry. Just always double check your comment and don’t post drunk and you’ll be fine. 🙂
J.
Not only to I watch Curb but sometimes I feel like I’m living it.
J.
Awesome, can’t wait for the review
I read it and I sure liked it, the two different stories meshed very well together, I can’t wait for more. Very rarely will Vertigo books disappoint me.
200 Yay Beer
CHEERS!
YEAH! WE PASSED THE 200 COMMENTS MARK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And now an angel gets its wings.
That angel must’ve been drinking REDBULLtm 😉
Only if its the WarrenWortington “Angel” -_0
Anyone here interested or know of the DD event hitting this summer titles Shadowland?
I am interested and I have only heard about the Shadowland story but haven’t heard any specifics yet. I have really been impressed with Diggle’s run so far. Just wish it would come out on time.
J.
J.
What’s the point of doing a fill on arc when it’s just going to be late? lol
J.
I heard that Eddy Barrows will do the art chores on JMS’s Superman run as well. I liked BN Superman so I’m definately looking forward to it.
8 pages into Siege #3 and Obama and his chief of staff and talking just like Peter Parker and Luke Cage.
FFS
No shit, right? Damn that issue was terrible.
J.
It’s a toss between Osborn’s Goblin Face or Demo-Void for why Siege #3 sucked for me.
