"Yeah, that's a monkey with guns!"

I loved this comment from the comment boards I had to make sure everybody saw it!

“I…don’t believe, no matter what JoeyQ and his pretentious Zombies say, that the Marvel Universe is more realistic than the DCU. They have Howard The Duck, a millenia old giant who eats planets, a floating city above Oklahoma where Norse gods live, and now a monkey hitman.” SMARTASS8

Truer words have never been spoken!

Thanks Smarty, for living up to your user name! 😉

  1. SMARTASS8 says:

Thanks for the recognition Elliott! Can I blame you if I become the target of any angry “Zombies”? LOL!!!

  2. Smallmaniac says:

They also have a talking Racoon weapon’s expert and a large talking tree. SMARTASS8 hit it right on the head. That doesn’t mean Marvel is bad, but they’re just not as realistic as DC. Nothing wrong with a little fantasy, but I think we all want it to be of moderate to superb quality, which is where Marvel is really lacking.

  3. kurumais says:

i dont know … there is nothing more realistic then a monkey that would try and kill you

  4. Rob F says:

I wanna know how many bananas it’d cost for the monkey to go after Sentry

  5. generaldark says:

HEY if it wasnt for me he wouldnt have said any of that 😛

  6. generaldark says: More jabs from MARVEL to DC, MARVEL mocking the return of bruce wayne.

    • JMenjivar says:

i dont think it was mockery, i think its just a bunch of variants due to the new iron man movie, some of these were previously announced, im pretty sure the adi granov moon knight variant was shown a few weeks back. i think a lot of them are also really cool!

  7. Luiz de Mello says:

You are smart, but you’re also an ass. And vice versa.

  8. vegedge says:

those iron man covers are kinda cool though.

the retro one and the steam punk one are great. hell if they had something to do with the story maybe even better. but yeah a total rip off of the return of bruce wayne

  9. Ullar says:

Marvel was more realistic in the from the 60’s-80’s, but it was how their characters were humans and not gods.

    • cballsack says:

I wish people would stop using the word “realistic” when discussing comics. Peter Parker got his powers from a freakin’ bug bite. They had a mutant witch married to a robot. There’s a guy who rides around through space on a surfboard. And Marvel does have plenty of Gods: Thor, Hercules, even the Eternals were kinda godlike.

I understand what you’re saying, that Marvel presented characters that were more complex than how DC depicted them, but the idea of them being referred to as realistic just rubs my rhubarb the wrong way.

      • I think Bill Maher is a very realistic comic.

      • Deemar says:

Technically calling Marvel realistic is farfecthed, but the better thing to say (In my opinion) is that the Marvel U is a more cohesive fictional world. The lines betweens characters interactions, histories (within continuity) and call back to past stories are easier too follow than the DCU.

I mean DC can’t even decide on which interpretation of Krypton is the true one within this what? third version of it’s continuity? They both are utterly unrealistic, but Marvel’s universe is a tad bit easier to digest.

        • cballsack says:

Marvel’s cohesiveness as a universe used to be pretty good. It’s really turned to crap in the last decade. I think the end started when Mark Gruenwald died. He was Marvel’s continuity cop.

          • Deemar says:

            I can agree with that.

It won’t be long before marvel will too have a “Crisis” type reboot of it’s mainline universe.

        • ullar says:

I understand how your upset by Marvel being called realistic, I feel the same way when people call Marvel less realistic than DC. If we accept that there are certain things in superhero comic books that are inherently unrealistic we have a base line for what realistic means. Marvel is more fictionally-realistic (or was) because of the characters. Peter Parker was a a high school kid who got his powers and decided to make money. Bruce Banner was a scientist caught in a nuclear explosion. Mutants are people born differently and hated rather than loved. Superman is Jesus, Hal Jordan is a space cowboy, Barry Allen was a cop who got powers and became a hero. The only DC hero who was complex from the start was Batman. It was easier to relate to Marvel heroes because they were and are fully formed humans. It took DC a while to do this. I love DC but I find the Marvel characters more interesting, when not written by Bendis at least.

        • Morlock50 says:

Yeah, this has been a problem since Crisis.

  10. Deemar says:

Smartass has that rare gift of biting truthspeaking

  11. Hahahahhahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!

Nemesis #2 was supposed to come out April 7th. It is now pushed back till May 19th. What a fucking joke.

    • tomstewdevine says:

Not surprising in the least. The third issue will come out January 2011, just my prediction.

    • Stamps says:

Jeez, it’s Kick Ass all over again!

    • SMARTASS8 says:

What about Brevoort’s pre-DICK-tion that Siege #4 would be on comic shelves before Flash Rebirth #6 & Blackest Night #8 came out. After Blackest Night comes out tomorrow, and if the current May 12 due date for Siege #4 stays put, DC has beaten Marvel by 42 days. Eat an ass Tommy boy!

    • Deemar says:

      the Nemesis is time

    • Mike F says:

The real joke is the plot for issue 3. “Nemesis has been captured” OH GEE WHAT BATMAN LIKE MOVIE DID THAT HAPPEN WITH THE JOKER????? GOD! Millar WTF? This is literally such a rip off of the movie. I know its a batman “what if” but WHAT IF YOU didn’t make them so similar.

The funny thing… They wanna make Nemesis a movie. Soooooo by that logic, they’ll just be remaking other good movies to make yet another flop. Looks like Uma Thurman’s new movie (which only made $100 bucks over the weekend won’t have to feel too bad when Nemesis hits theaters. I KNOW its gonna make less than $100.

    • Morlock50 says:

The guy at my LCS says that Nemesis has not been selling as well as Kick-Ass. Modest sales he told me. He thought that the artwork wasn’t as good as in Millar’s other projects. Be interesting to see what the monthly totals are

  12. Edward2962 says:

You know,I’m actually kinda glad someone at Marvel had a sense of humor enuff to greanlight something called Monkey Hitman instead of saying, “No,that’s not serious enough!Just do another One More Blackest Day After Ultimate Siege tie-in!”

    • SMARTASS8 says:

Not only did DC beat Marvel with Detective Chimp by about 58 years, I feel Bobo is a little more light hearted than a simian Agent 47.

      • Edward2962 says:

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but think the only cool ape characters marvel has are Gorilla Man and pre-Morrison Beast(does that count?).I think they did a Planet of the Apes comic in the 70’s, but I never read any of those.

  13. vegedge says:

all about kong-gorilla. suck it hitchimp.

so blackest night 8 has been spoiled for me. i dont care to much about the surprise or whatver but damn. it sounds nice.

  14. Deemar says:

    • cballsack says:

All because I casually mentioned The Jersey Shore. I feel like a proud parent.

Is she really that chub? I’ve only seen one episode and only because I was trying to get in the pants of the girl I was watching it with, so I wasn’t paying much attention to the tv.

    • Edward2962 says:

Deemar, you are a genius! If we get an agent right now,we can get a film greenlit by fall,it’ll premiere next year in time for free comic book day, then after that..maybe get a third issue of the comic done. If the fans get antsy,we can have a fill-in artist do Snooki:Embedded, Dark Snooki, or Snooki:the list!Think about it!

      • Deemar says:

        Heh..dark Snooki

If you can get Snooki on Broadway done deal

        • Edward2962 says:

Of Course! Elton John or Randy Newman will do the music! Disney will bankroll the stage show! Hey, Disney owns marvel…it’s all coming together! And if Disney wants to do a kid’s cartoon version,Snooki can have a communist hit-man monkey as a pet!!!
          Ok…maybe I’ve gone to far…

  15. heckimlistening says:

I guess the giant Purple Planet Eater is a much more serious thing to Joey Q than I thought.
