i feel sorry for fraction, hickman and slott millar and bendis turned the entire pro registration side into doucebags and those writers are finally making them heroic again.
well to be fair the CW pym was a skrull. but the argument could be said for everyone who joined the initiative was pro registration
yeah but that was just bendis trying to put a skurll on the intitive it looked as if the only skrulls were spider woman yellowjacket and black bolt
I think the ” I would have made the same choices again” line was his was of not slighting the CW story/writer while he was writing a way out of the crappy characterization. Jose, was the Iron Man issue in question the last #25 with all of the Wizard quality puff pieces?
Are you talking about the issue that made me drop it? I don’t remember any Wizard puff pieces. It was just the Marvel classic padding for 10 pages retelling Iron Man’s origin using old comic panels and stuff.

I thought that too about that phrase, it was a good out imo without taking JQ’s route ‘if it doesnt fit your story, ignore it and we fix it later’.

What I really liked about that phrase was that while not saying it directly, by the rest of the dialogue to me that one phrase felt like Tony was saying ‘I am not sorry for doing what I really believe was the right thing to do before I could understand it was actually crap. And if things repeated themselves and for some reason that option appeared to me as the right thing to do, in that case I would roll with my beliefs and do it again’.
I thought “if it doesn’t fit your story, ignore it and we fix it later” was more Brevoort’s way of doing things(or not doing things since he’s an editor and that’s part of his job). JoeyQ’s way is more “tell a good story and don’t worry about continuity”. Granted, he’s toned down his anti-fanboy stance since the days of Bill Jemas when continuity was considered a 4-letter word and fans of Marvel’s history were dismissed as whiney old men who refused to change with the times.
I took that line from one of JQ’s interviews, not exactly from his behavior, so there might be some differences indeed. Though for me, they both do like that. One says ‘okay’ and the boss sees it and says nothing against, so I rate it as an implicit ‘keep doing what you are doing, I agree/approve’.
the movie really wasnt as bad as i thought it would be. keep your expectations low tho. my real problem with the movie was that i feel like i didnt get a complete story…lol like the comics
I really enjoyed the sequel, but I am afraid of a 3rd film. Comic book movies can never seem to get a 3rd movie right, and with all the Avengers stuff it could have a lot more to deal with than it needs. My only problem with IM2 is that it felt like it had a whole lot of stuff and not a lot of time to tell it in. Maybe if there’s an extended director’s cut it will feel less rushed.

Is it true they changed Black Widow’s last name in the movie or is that something done for the plot? I was reading Entertainment Weekly and they have her name listed as something other than Romanov.
they probally did.
she uses an alias for part of the movie, although i dont remember if they explicitly use her real name in the movie. i think they did… but dont take my word for it
Her name was Natasha Romanov in the movie. She did go by an alias when she “worked” for Stark. Also, they never referred to her as Black Widow at any point.

“This is what all Marvel 3.99 books should be like.” Man, I could not agree more. I think the standard should be about a dollar for every eight pages…so I’ll even pay four bucks for 32 pages. The 36 pages of this issue of Iron Man was a good value. But 24 pages of actual comic and eight more of “extras”?…damn, there’s enough trivial Bendis dialogue in a regular-sized issue, I don’t really need more of it shoved into the back without pretty pictures to save it!
I think I’ve seen at least one(unless I’m just thinking of Marvel Previews), but how many Marvel Comics have already had the “Heroic Age” logo plastered on their covers?
I remember Marvel holding back already completed tie-in books due to late shipping crossover series in the past. Why don’t they just hold off all Avengers reboots & books with the “Heroic Age” logo on their covers until after Siege #4(and whatever After-Siege specials/minis they have in the works)? With all the buzz of the “Heroic Age” and Iron Man 2, I doubt releasing the books a month or 2 late is going to hurt sales at all.
Overall, I enjoyed Iron Man #25. I wasn’t going to buy it until Jose mentioned that there was little to no filler, so i picked it up. I thought there was a little too much Hammer girls in the story. Not sure where they are going with the whole ‘Detroit Steel’ storyline, but it did seem terrible original to me.
The Stark/Richards conversation bothered me a little, mostly from Reed’s side of the conversation. I mean Stark has a reason to be a little wishy-washy about the whole CW deal, he doesn’t remember any of it. Reed doesn’t have that excuse and when the Tony starts down that road where he is talking about regretting his decisions and thinking that he should apologizing for what he did, Reed drops this little gem on Tony, “Well what’s done is done and what’s now is now.”
Really? That is a pretty flippant response from a guy who’s actions ended up killing Goliath. I don’t know, I just think it would been a much stronger moment if Reed and Tony reconciled with each other about what they had done in CW instead of “Fuck it, now how about that armor Tony.”
The moment between Thor and Tony was much stronger and I wanted to more of that instead of the Hammer girls piloting against Stark.

I kind of agree about Richard’s scene, at least my rational and comic reader side. At the other hand, however, CW turned to be such a wtf to me that if this simply scene helps to just get that crap over forever I will gladly turn a blind eye on it. Its poop and at least it is done, superficially but finally done, hopefully to never be poked again, ’cause it will never stop stinking like shit and is better forgotten.
