To bring you back up from that^
one of the most beautiful instrumentals, ever
Prince’s performance of “Purple Rain” was easily the BEST Oscar performance I have ever seen.
It was like you were watching the Oscars and suddenly a concert broke out.
the student exceeds the teacher
Yeah!!!! SRV FTW!!!!! This is my favorite song of his.
Wow, that is quite the technique he’s using. It’s like a mash up of classical, jazz and Van Halen-esque rock. Really quite an amazing rendition of that song. Thanks for posting this Phil! Do you play? You seem to have rather good taste in guitar driven music.
Naw! Unless you count a pretty mean air guitar 🙂
I do dig the guitar,however.
My faves are:
1 Brian May
2 Stanley Jordan
5 BB King
8 Eddie VH
9 Jimmy Page
10 Ernie Isley
Damn, that was awesome.
stanley always makes everything look so effortless and easy his music is just a smooth ride
im sure many of us surf music vids on youtube i love the comments its always cracks me up no matter what genre no matter what era the song/music/band is from there is always a post about how “this is real music and how music today sucks” and that post usually gets the most thumbs up lol dont they remember how ppl put down their music when they were in jr high and high school?
why do so many people just stop when it comes to music appreciation? i have never found a laack of good music in any genre or era as these weekly threads keeps proving
theres plenty of good music today, however most of the music in the charts is absolute fucking shit. Most of the good music is on smaller labels, underground labels, club scenese etc.
Compare the late 70’s/early 80’s when you had punk, new wave, nwobhm, mod, ska, electro and new romantics all over the charts at the same time to the current synthetic soul, commercial rap and all the other shit.
Yes, it is quite easy to become discouraged with the music industry when the likes of Lady Gaga and the Black Eyed Peas top the charts. So called “artists” who don’t write their own songs and can barely perform anything resembling actual music live. Which is why we are in the age of “auto-tune”. Which was cool when Daft Punk was doing it 15 years ago, now, not so much…
I think what ends up happening is that many of us tend to see things from a grass is always greener p o v. Every decade has had its share of crap. Great music, crap music, it’s all pretty subjective. For as long as I can remember, Their was the “real” music and their was the “pop fluff” What can I tell you? The more things change, the more they remain the same.
Ha!Yer right! And it doesn’t matter what the genre is,I’ve seen John Denver vids with those posts!I guarantee you 15 yrs from now ppl will say Lady Gaga had style and whatever that era’s pop music is is trash.
If people are praising the talent of Lady Gaga in 60 years then the Apocalypse will have begun.
i just ran across this vid last week never heard of the guy but someone round here might have posted him before sorry if it a repost i found it impressive and enjoyable
Nice! A lot of good guitar music this Mellow Monday. Thanks for posting Kuru.
Just checked it out, Kuru. Carlos is uber fantastique!!!
MY Man My Moon by fiest KINDA sounds like a rip off of “Momentum” by Aimee Mann…
Just my thoughts tho.
Because you demanded it, well at least Jose did.
Now, with some added final thoughts
Jeepers! Other than that, how’d you like the play Mrs. Lincoln?

We’re actually getting good weather for the first time in 9 months so the feeling isn’t exactly mellow!
Ok,I might lose some brownie points cuz I know alot ppl hate GNR.If you DO hate GNR give this one a chance cuz it’s actuallly a pretty song.
ok wrong post let’s try again
Guns & Roses = awesome. Screw the haters.
I really don’t like Axl Rose’s voice, but no one can deny the talent of Slash. He’s incredible.
nice instrumental, very melodic. sounds like it would fit well in a Rob rrodriguez film.
On GnR in general; Once I heard “one in a million” I was done with them.
Axl = the Archie Bunker of music.
