Wow, that is quite the technique he’s using. It’s like a mash up of classical, jazz and Van Halen-esque rock. Really quite an amazing rendition of that song. Thanks for posting this Phil! Do you play? You seem to have rather good taste in guitar driven music.

      • phil says:

Naw! Unless you count a pretty mean air guitar 🙂
        I do dig the guitar,however.
        My faves are:
        1 Brian May
        2 Stanley Jordan
        3 SRV
        4 Santana
        5 BB King
        7 Prince

im sure many of us surf music vids on youtube i love the comments its always cracks me up no matter what genre no matter what era the song/music/band is from there is always a post about how “this is real music and how music today sucks” and that post usually gets the most thumbs up lol dont they remember how ppl put down their music when they were in jr high and high school?
why do so many people just stop when it comes to music appreciation? i have never found a laack of good music in any genre or era as these weekly threads keeps proving

    • Locusmortis says:

theres plenty of good music today, however most of the music in the charts is absolute fucking shit. Most of the good music is on smaller labels, underground labels, club scenese etc.

Compare the late 70’s/early 80’s when you had punk, new wave, nwobhm, mod, ska, electro and new romantics all over the charts at the same time to the current synthetic soul, commercial rap and all the other shit.

      • Pobra says:

Yes, it is quite easy to become discouraged with the music industry when the likes of Lady Gaga and the Black Eyed Peas top the charts. So called “artists” who don’t write their own songs and can barely perform anything resembling actual music live. Which is why we are in the age of “auto-tune”. Which was cool when Daft Punk was doing it 15 years ago, now, not so much…

      • phil says:

I think what ends up happening is that many of us tend to see things from a grass is always greener p o v. Every decade has had its share of crap. Great music, crap music, it’s all pretty subjective. For as long as I can remember, Their was the “real” music and their was the “pop fluff” What can I tell you? The more things change, the more they remain the same.

    • Edward2962 says:

Ha!Yer right! And it doesn’t matter what the genre is,I’ve seen John Denver vids with those posts!I guarantee you 15 yrs from now ppl will say Lady Gaga had style and whatever that era’s pop music is is trash.
