  1. I enjoyed Avengers Academy.I agree with Jose on the art,but I don’t hate it as much.I like Hazmat and Striker’s costume.Don’t care for everyone else’s.

  2. Insideman says:

This is totally unrelated to the video but I would love to take a screencaps of the beginning picture of each vid and write a story just based on those.

Your looks on the screencaps are frickin’ hilarious sometimes.

Out of curiosity, is it McKone’s art in general that you don’t like or only as its applied tothe comic that you and E reviewed?

  4. Dre says:

Hey would doing a segment, even a brief one or the last five minutes of a vid, in which you guys talk about your expectation for Shadowlands and share your opinion on the teasers released so far? If you haven’t seen all the teaser or not abreast of the the most recent DD news, now you have no excuse: ๐Ÿ˜€ Thanks!

Hey, would guys mind doing a brief segment or even spare the last five minutes of a vid to talk about your expectations, if any, and opinons for the Shadowland event, it’s numerous teasers and so forth. If you guys havenโ€™t seen all the teasers or are not abreast of the the most recent DD related news, now you have no excuse: ๐Ÿ˜€ Thanks!

i agree with E on avengers academy yeah it was a nice twist but other a big meh

i never saw that hickman move where he just throws a page of text in before i had no idea it was one of his “tricks”
i just took it as they just moved through a wacky twilige zoney dimension for a bit, not a dimension of sight and sound but of mind, then back into normal space so i thought it was a great, far out sci fi anything can happen, move
i can see how you could be sick of it but for me seeing it for the first time it seemed a terrific
    move for the story

im having a blast reading it

    • Locusmortis says:

The text thing isn’t all that new though, Dave Sim was doing it on Cerebus ages ago and there was a brilliant book about 10 years ago called Thieves and Kings from IBox publishing which did it as an integral part of the story.

  6. Locusmortis says:

Mckone has always been a Barry Kitson clone only not nearly as good.

  7. Bboyce109 says:

Great review, Shield #2 is becoming a good series but Avengers Academy #1 was not what i was expecting it to be even though its only the first issue. I am going to continue reading but when the first arc is over i will be dropping this series.

Question: Anyone going to the NY Comic Con in September ? It might be the first comic convention i go to and i want some idea what it might be like.

    • kurumais says:

im going they do a really good show its in october and wizard/big apple is doing a con the same weekend ( what asses)lol so you can to your first 2 shows
well my advice take a good look at the guest list and schedule i never get to everything
      make a list for yourself
satudays are the craziest days see if they have the same panel or guest available friday or sunday might be a better option

if you want sketches by certain artist get there on friday early they get booked up quick
personally i find the lesser known folks do great stuff

bring list of stuff you want books and trades there going to be soooo much your head is going to swim you will forget believe me
shows usually have great prices on trades half off or buy 2 get 1 free i try to buy my trades there

I think having that page of only dialogue in SHIELD only made the story more eerie, and it was nice to see. Any time Hickman has had a full page of just dialogue, even in Pax Romana, it feels right, but if other writers started using it, it would feel out of place. This has definitely been my favorite new series of the year IMO.

  9. tomstewdevine says:

At 7:43, that definitely was a little slam by Elliot. You can’t let that shit slide Jose.

  10. iqy92 says:

jose you were saying how you preferred some of hickman’s writing in trade, just wondering is there any books that you buy only in trade than floppies? i prefer to buy a lot vertigo and walking dead in trade.

    • The only book I buy in trade (besides manga) is Scalped. That will probably be changing soon though. I will most likely start buying more trades.

      • Iqy says:

I think I might be going mainly trade because floppies are too expensive for a weekley buy. Plus you can get trades really cheap and much better value that buying monthly of floppies
