  1. I really fucking miss ya George.

    J.

    • Mike F says:

I love his “religion” segment. So funny man…

        • cballsack says:

I don’t think there’s a video on Youtube of George Carlin that I haven’t seen. The man was brilliant, precisely because he didn’t give a shit. He knew he was popular enough that he could say whatever he wanted and get away with it. And his philosophy on life is precisely the same as mine. It’s a damn shame he died. He was only 71. That’s not that old.

          • AvS says:

He did not give a shit.

          • tomstewdevine says:

Not only did he not give a shit, He is the grandfather of intelligent comedy.

            • MicahSkin says:

Would love to be in a room where he, Lewis Black and Rodney Dangerfield are just shooting the shinola.

          • Insideman says:

Given the copious amounts of drugs George consumed in his lifetime– he probably would have lived until he was 120 if he’d stayed “half” clean.

His wife Brenda died in 1997 and he loved that woman SO much… Let’s just say his heartache was very real and constant. So, just in case their is a “better place” (George would assure you there isn’t)– I’m sure George is there with Brenda… Even if he is still grumpy and amazed that such an afterlife exists.

(I’m seriously not attempting to “name-drop” here. When I moved to LA I spent almost every night at the Comedy Store on Sunset Boulevard… So I know a lot of people. George was one of my dead-ass favorite friends (even though there was a huge disparity in our ages)… So it’s cool to see people still thinking about him everyday. He would be flattered. (Even if he would never acknowledge it.)

  2. TheGateJester says:

So I was just wondering if I’m the only one that’s disappointed that Tan is doing the art chores on Shadowland. He’s the same guy that did the list oneshot, which was decent, but the only thing that turned me off about it was the artwork. Maybe its not the penciller, but maybe the colorist. idk maybe I’m just too used to DD having a certain look.

    • Tan almost kills ANY interest I had in Shadowland. He is terrible.

      J.

      • TheGateJester says:

Good I’m not the only one. I think because of this Shadowland bullshit I’m going to have to break my run on DD. Which is really sad cause I have every issue since they relaunched it way back when with kevin smith, but you have to make a stand somewhere. Once they cross the line we as consumers have to put our foots down and not stand for this bullshit.

      • Venom829 says:

Alex Maleev would have been the perfect choice. Too bad he’s working on that Icon series with Bendis 😦

  3. TheGateJester says:

Has anyone seen Kung Fu Dunk?

  4. cballsack says:

Anyone see Megan Fox pre-plastic surgery? She looks like a totally different person.

  5. TheGateJester says:

    • cballsack says:

Seth Rogen is the fucking Green Hornet??? Jesus H. Tittyfuck.

      • TheGateJester says:

Ya I know I’m torn because on one side you have Michel Gondry directing it, but then on the other side you have Seth Rogan…tough call.

        • cballsack says:

You’d think Rogen would want to… I dunno… maybe get in the shape for the role since he’s playing an action hero? Pretty sure if Gerard Butler could do it, he could too.

        • DidioForever says:

          wuhwaitWAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH??????!?!!!!!!!!???????!!!!

Michel Gondry’s directing? I’ve got to give this a shot now, I wouldn’t have otherwise

      • phil says:

I think people were saying something similar to that when it was 1st announced that Michael Keaton was up for the roll of Batman. That didn’t turn out so bad. On the other hand having seen the trailer for GH I’m like, really?

I’m just hoping that the powers that be don’t get Jaleel (Urkel) White to play the Black Panther. The Falcon, maybe 🙂

        • Venom829 says:

Keaton was ok, it was Burton who ruined ’89 Batman.

        • cballsack says:

I was never a fan of Keaton’s selection. He’s a good actor and he gave a good performance, but he didn’t look the part at all. And when I watch it years later, it seems even more ridiculous.

          • generaldark says:

keaton was a good batman but a bad bruce wayne.

            • phil says:

              To me it went like this;
Keaton was a good Batman but a sub par Bruce. His Bruce was to close to his Batman.

Kilmer was a good Bruce Wayne, but too cutesy a Batman

Clooney was equally horrible as both Bruce and Bats

bale was adept at handling both personas equally.

For what it was I thought Burton’s take while not ideal, was nonetheless enjoyable. I know a lot of folks had a problem with the “staged” set, but I thought it was part of the movie’s charm, but then again I was one of the few ppl that liked Dick Tracy (even Madonna) 🙂

              • cballsack says:

Bale is a great Bruce Wayne, and he has the right physique for the role, but as Batman? Not so much.

        • kurumais says:

i think jaleel might turn out to be pretty talented

      • Venom829 says:

Just imagine all of the sex jokes that will be in that movie…

      • Insideman says:

This was originally scheduled for a Christmas release– then pushed back into the Dead Zone of January.

I am not saying that this movie is bad but it is highly unusual for studios to push an expensive “Holiday” film to January– UNLESS they’ve lost confidence in the product.

That said, the trailer looks sweet. (For what that’s worth.)

    • holy shit fucking awesome man this is the movie to see in 2011 maybe we’ll see how green lantern looks

    • Mike F says:

Is that Jay Chou? The Taiwanese singer??? He’s doing USA movies now?

    • Heck says:

This looks really funny. I wanna see it.

    • Smallmaniac says:

I know nothing about it but I really want to see it.

  6. cballsack says:

On IMDB it says that Stephen Chow made a movie called CJ7 and is currently working on the sequel. Anyone know anything about it? I’ve never heard of it.

    • I’ve seen CJ7. It was more a kid movie than anything else. He wasn’t the star in it. Kinda weird that he is doing a sequel to that. I thought it was good for what it was.

      J.

      • TheGateJester says:

Stephen Chow will direct and star in a remake version of the film entitled Tai Chi. The film is also rumored to star Jack Black and Anne Hathaway, and will begin shooting in June 2010.

I found this on his wiki.

      • Smallmaniac says:

I’ve seen trailers for this around the interwebs before. It looks really good.

  7. two green based superheroes in 2011 the thunder god will have his work cut out

  8. rush says:

Look at the name in this LinkedIN profile

    http://cn.linkedin.com/pub/robust-wang/8/557/423

  9. Mike F says:

Director of The Thing and Escape from NY, John Carpenter gives Hideo Kojima his blessing…

    http://kotaku.com/5570376/hideo-kojima-has-john-carpenters-blessing

    • Smallmaniac says:

It sounds really good. I’d still be reading the fine print though, especially as far as royalties go with Superman, etc. This will definitely change comics if it’s a hit.

I wonder what this means for the titles. You could, I think, have more titles on digital than in print.

  10. Insideman says:

    I know, I know… It’s Ke$ha– but come on, it’s Star Trek:

    • cballsack says:

I enjoyed the video more with the volume lowered.

    • Smallmaniac says:

I assume you watch the AOTS, Insideman. I don’t think anything could make this song bearable accept a mute button.

      • Insideman says:

        Yes, I do watch AOTS.

But I actually heard about this the day before it ran as the number one video on yesterday’s show.

Out of deference to Locusmortis’ fine Previews summary and Jose’s extensive release lists and the discussions there– I didn’t post the link before now… As I was waiting for an open thread. (I try not to post off topic if I can help it.)

P.S. When I say I “watch” AOTS… I should say I fast forward through the show until I see Alison Haislip. On the days she co-hosts– the show has my full attention.

  11. Insideman says:

According to this story on Bleeding Cool, DC is releasing JLA: Generation Lost #4 to digital iPhone and iPod TODAY– the SAME DAY as the Direct Market version hits comic shops in the US:

    http://www.bleedingcool.com/2010/06/23/dc-comics-launch-ipad-and-iphone-app/

Yeah, the BIG 2 are really looking out for comic shop owners aren’t they? (And you thought only Marvel was populated with fuckers!)

    • Stamps says:

yeah they are really looking out for the little guy. grrrrrrrr
What a two-faced move(and I’m not talking about the awesome Batman villan)
Oh DC…starting to let me down big time.

    • hackslash2020 says:

how many of those digital comics will sell?

maybe new readers will get interested in buying comics too..

i dont see the digital comics as a threat yet

most monitors are not advanced enough to give me a pleasant comic read imo

    • Smallmaniac says:

I know this sucks for comic shops, but I think this is a better move overall for the industry. The fact that comic book shops have survived this long is a miracle in my book. I truly doubt this will replace print, which has always been the fear when anyone mentions digital comics.

      • Insideman says:

        I totally agree with everyone.

I can only imagine that a small amount of people will pay full cover price for a download of JLA: Generation Lost #4– when they can get an ACTUAL copy for the same price (or less at many shops).

Some folks may buy this issue to just see what it looks/feels like to read a DC Comic digitally… Especially if they haven’t tried the Marvel (comiXology) App already. I’ve made it clear that I can’t stand to read comics or any other books on a computer. I just can’t get into it– no matter how hard I try.

I loved the comment from the UK Retailer– who sarcastically wrote something like, “So, of course this means DC will make this issue fully returnable now, right?”

    • Blanchard says:

I grew up in a small town where it was really difficult to get comic books. This sounds like it will be a nice, cheap solution for people who don’t have easy access to comics. Plus the creators will see royalties which can’t be a bad thing……can it?

Still, I wonder how comic shop owners will react to this.

      • hackslash2020 says:

Good point, also in George Carlin talks about “Stuff” a video posted in this thread, George talks about how material objects can be a burden for a person. Not only do they brake(-1 for digital comics), They need to be kept safe in storage(+1 for digital comics) and there are logistical hassles during travelling(+1 for digital comics)

  12. Venom829 says:

I just read Dark Reign: Fantastic Four at my library yesterday, it was DAMN good!!! 😛

  13. generaldark says:

superman #700…. what a let down.

  14. kurumais says:

how was grizzly shark and sea bear was it as ridiculous and fun as it looked?

    thanks

  15. djsweet says:

the Namora one shot by Parker and Sara Pichelli was the comic of the week. This was the best Atlantean story I’ve read in a while. Namora is the primer heroine at Marbel under Parkers’ pen.

    • Insideman says:

The email I got from that major Illinois retailer (9 stores) had this to say about “Sea Bear & Grizzly Shark”:

“Sea Bear & Grizzly Shark #1
written and drawn by Ryan Ottley and Jason Howard
They got mixed up! Haven’t read this comic yet, heck didn’t even read the synopsis… It’s just… the title…
My god man, the title! Quite possibly the greatest comic book title I have ever seen! And I thought Cowboy Ninja Viking was a great title, that is until I saw the epic title of Sea Bear & Grizzly Shark! I hope they don’t even explain it!

      Isn’t that a special comment?

And here what the same reviewer had to say about “Namora”:

      Namora #1
      written by Jeff Parker
      art by Sara Pichelli

What you’ve got here is a 1-shot. Not a mini-series, not a lead in to an on-going series, just a one-shot. But why?? Does Namora have fans? Were they clamoring for her to have her own comic? Somehow I doubt this.
This isn’t a bad comic per say, I read the whole thing and didn’t feel like gouging my eyes out, but I can’t
      see why it was made.
It reads like a lost MARVEL COMICS PRESENTS story. Re-defining what ‘mediocre’ means it’s the Namora 2010 1 shot! Fans of mediocrity unite!”

Am I still lighting that fire underneath you Jose? 😉

Please save us from this bullshit!

  16. hey guys what do you think was the best comic you read last month also i just had an idea for a comic which i posted on my blog check it out if you want nite

    • cballsack says:

It’ll still be better than Magnolia.

      • kurumais says:

didnt the trolls have their own cartoon at one point?

      • Mike F says:

Better than Magnolia? Better than Magnolia?

        • Ya, this is coming from the guy who loved The Time Traveler’s Wife. Not the book but the movie.

          J.

          • cballsack says:

            I actually never saw it.

          • Mike F says:

Hahaha. Well when Ben Afleck isn’t wearing his DD costume its hard to find decent entertainment I bet 😉

Maybe P.T. Anderson should start directing bad Marvel adaptations and cheesy love stories!

            • cballsack says:

I pretty much agree with this review of Magnolia:

              http://www.darkhorizons.com/reviews/499/Magnolia

The first couple sentences sum it up nicely: “‘Magnolia’ is a soap opera. You can dress it up, call it what you will but in the end its just ‘Days of Our Lives’ with better production values.”

I did really enjoy the Tom Cruise scenes. The rest of it? Meh. (I shouldn’t even say that since I turned it off halfway through. I watched it on VHS and didn’t bother putting in the second tape.)

              • So then you can’t really talk shit since you haven’t seen the whole thing, right? Actually, I take that back, you can talk shit but all of your opinion’s credibility just went up in flames.

                J.

                • cballsack says:

The first half was boring. That’s where I stand. And given that it was a three hour film, sitting through half of a movie you’re thoroughly bored by is a fair effort.

Remember a few weeks ago when I said that I couldn’t say Elektra was a bad movie cuz it was so dull that I didn’t finish it and you said something like “Doesn’t that prove to you that it was bad?” Your logic applies here as well.

                  We’ll always have Amelie.

                  • Did I actually say that? Hrrrmmm…I most likely was drunk, kinda like I am now because I do not remember saying that.

Speaking of Amelie, I saw Delicatessen a few weeks ago. Didn’t really care for it…at all. People have told me that it is better than Amelie but I just don’t see it. I really struggled to get through that movie but I wanted to see the whole thing so I could form a valid opinion of it. That’s just how I roll.

                    J.

                    • cballsack says:

The older I get, the less patience I have wasting time on stuff I’m not enjoying. I was like that especially with novels. I’d always see a book through to the end, no matter what. Now? Fuck that. Life’s too short.

                    • rush says:

Amelie is better than Delicatessen but I think I enjoyed it more than you. City of Lost Children was a bit of struggle for me.

                    • City of lost Children was a huge struggle for me to Rush.

                      J.

                    • djsweet says:

City of Lost Children has a beautifully strange fairy tale quality to it.
Amelie is sweet and funny so It is much easier to digest.

                    • That kinda sounds like in insult…

                      J.

                    • djsweet says:

Amelie is a beautiful and wonderful movie. the title character is very touching and charismatic which really draws you into the movie. At the end of the day, it is a very straight forward romance. Its not an insult, it’s what it is.
CoLC has a terry gilliam surreal-ness to it that isn’t going to be as widely enjoyed as a movie about lovers getting together.

                    • Morlock50 says:

I’m a little surprised you didn’t like Delicatessen, Jose. Seemed to me that it would have been right up your alley, since you liked Amelie already. Oh well.

              • Mike F says:

So, if you read comics you must let your self escape in order to believe whats happening right? (c’mon barry allen ain’t no one that fast)

so when you watch dramas, do you let yourself become close to the characters and their struggles so that the resolution becomes more enjoyable and the incentive to see the resolution becomes stronger? usually people with simple minded taste just wanted simple stories that aren’t complex, mindless rather and they don’t have to get close to the characters or even attempt to relate to them. BUT I’m not saying your simple-minded man. No way. I’m just saying my views on why some people said Magnolia was boring, cause I, for one, feel it was one of the most creative movies to come out of Hollywood in history of cinema.

      • Morlock50 says:

How could any movie be better than raining frogs?

  18. So, Avengers #1 stole the plot from Back to the Future. Guess what Bendis steals for his second issue? Here’s a hint: Time is broken.

The phrase “Time is broken” is literally spoken aloud at least 12 times in this issue. In case some of you don’t know, this is THE main plot point in the new series of Doctor Who.

    God damn it…you fucking hack.

    J.

    • cballsack says:

Time was broken for this guy too… and so was my heart.

hey are there 2 female characters in this movie talking about …. never mind

    • kurumais says:

i think am and resident bendis fan around here and even i think he needs to step back and recharge

      • cballsack says:

I think Elliot still has a little bit of Bendis love left.

I choose to accept that we live in a world of two Bendises: the guy who wrote Jinx and Powers and Torso, and the guy who wrote everything else.

        • Mike F says:

Its just the case of fame. Bendis got really popular and stopped trying. I’m sure if his paycheck were suddenly cut in half maybe he’d try again. I do believe he has talent in writing. Every now and then a bad bendis comic has a good scene or a decent interaction with characters but then gets ruined by the rest of the story…

      Great link, Mike.

      I love Ellis’ comment:

“Helen Mirren with a sniper rifle.

I mean, if you don’t want to see a film with Helen Mirren with a sniper rifle, I’m not sure I want to know you.”

      • Mike F says:

I love that comment too. I also feel Warren Ellis is one of the best modern writers in the industry. I noticed few here buy his work like Astonishing X-men or SUPERGOD. I’ll admit, an acquired taste is sometimes needed, but I’ve yet to be upset over a purchase of his work.

Flipping past the channels when I noticed that Jimmy Kimmel is having a “Twilight Eclipse Prime Time Spectacular” on ABC right now (10pm-11pm PDT).

The two main male actors are doing great in the interview.

Kristen Stewart has just been sitting there the ENTIRE TIME scratching her bare legs, mumbling in mono-syllables and shooting her co-stars psychotic-looking EVIL stares every time they attempt to be funny by telling some cute story or filming anecdote.

As you have mentioned before Jose… This witch shits on all things Twilight. In my mind, it is still a “no-no” to shit all over your paycheck in a print interview that somebody may– or may not– read… But this woman has just taken a HUGE DUMP on “Twilight” during a Prime Time special… Which should play out on YouTube ad infinitum.

I don’t know who has convinced this average looking, barely talented nobody masquerading as an actress that her shit doesn’t stink… But this person should stop representing Kristen Stewart right this instant, write a Self Help book and become a Motivational Speaker– because they have truly missed their calling.

    Kristen Stewart: Twit!

Just finished watching Batman: City Of Scars, the new fanmade film that came out recently. It was solid. There were some cool effects in there, like the Batcycle, and there were some neat cameos by other characters as well.

    • Man, I only made it half way through and had to stop. I have come to the conclusion that it is a boring piece of shit and one of the worst things I have ever seen even in my life though I didn’t finish watching it. God, so horrible…up to the half way point. The rest must have been just as bad.

Overall grade C- (Some tweaks, could make a decent t.v. show)

      • cballsack says:

Black Canary was the lady in the bar wearing the fishnets who fought the two Asian dudes who were harassing that waitress.

And I disagree with your grade of Joker getting an F. I rather like Paul Molnar. He was the same guy in Patient J. He brings his own vibe to the Joker that seems the most like the comic book version.

        • phil says:

I felt that the guy playing Joker was pretty one note and on top of that he came across more like Lorne from the Angel t.v. show. Also his look left a lot to be desired. I’ve seen better looking Jokers watching folks do their cos play deal at conventions………but that’s just me 🙂

If some of you guys have never seen this or heard this comedian. This is HILARIOUS.

did anyone see the new show memphis beat? it was ok its not going to challenge or anything you but the soundtrack was terrific. it has alfrie woodard and i think she is terrific i love her voice so ill probably come back for more
ny times gave it a very good review from their review which i agree with

“This series is to Memphis what the HBO series “Treme” is to New Orleans and “Justified” on FX is to Harlan County in Kentucky — timeless indigenous music is set against the exoticism of temporal subcultures. Atmosphere is the real hero of all these shows and music is the sidekick, be it R&B, jazz, or as is the case in “Justified,” bluegrass tinged with rap.”

“There are many new crime series on network television and cable coming up this summer and next fall; this one solves homicide cases to the sound of Otis Redding, B. B. King, and, of course, that other king. ”
like i said ok show some decent likable characters with a hell of a soundtrack not bad

  35. kurumais says:

how did i miss this movie has anyone seen it? thanks

    • cballsack says:

      Looks interesting.

    • rush says:

This movie was nothing memorable. The cinematography is great but the story got a bit tedious at times.

      • kurumais says:

thanks rush thats what i was afraid of still looks amazingly beautiful

        • rush says:

You’re welcome. Watch it and draw your own conclusion, you might like more than I did.

          • kurumais says:

well i looked at that stunning trailer and i thought something is wrong i have never heard of this flick no reviews no word of mouth nothing
even if it was art house snoozefest i think i would have heard something
i am thinking you are probably right
btw i thought it might have been a terry gilliam movie at first

  36. Insideman says:

kurumais– Thanks for the kind thoughts!

Frugal (not cheap) is good! She is seemingly well versed in the medium… and definitely beautiful! I just watched one of her vids and she said she loves JR JR art but did not like the way he drew the faces in Avengers #1.

I don’t know if the rest of her views match up nicely, whether she understands the proper use of the word “irony” or likes to travel (she lives in NYC)– but isn’t finding out simply part of the fun?

In short, you may have unwittingly found the soul mate of our own, most exalted “BurgerMeister MeisterBurger” Jose.

    http://www.youtube.com/user/ilikecomicstoo

Personally, I loved how she pulled out her book full of notes to critique certain comics because she “didn’t have enough money to buy them all.”

    You go, girl!

I also clicked on the links you provided and it looks like they added a couple (3 or 4) new books to the B&N sale… So that might be worth checking out again for some bargain hunters.

    • Except that I can’t stand anyone who thinks it’s a good idea to review comics on youtube. Whatta bunch of freakin’ nerds.

      Oh, wait…

      J.

    • kurumais says:

she isnt best critic ive seen nor are her critiques particularly insightful but i like her bubbly personality and enthusiasm plus sometimes she does reviews with a bird. i think she does what many reviewers do talk to much synopsis instead of the quality of elements of the book.she is college right now NYU i think thats a pretty dcent school so i look forward to her getting better at her reviews. she likes my boy amadeus cho and she a new comic fan girl so im interested in her point of view. you guys should give her a look though i think lots of guys subscribe to fangirl channels and then just hit on the host which can make the comments section silly.

about b&n selection 3 volumes of 3×3 eyes for about 9 bucks thats pretty darn good

      • “plus sometimes she does reviews with a bird.”

Big whoop. I ALWAYS do reviews with a jackass. You never seem to give me mad props for that.

        J.

      • Insideman says:

I will not say you can’t be a good critic when you are young (because you can) but common sense tells you that if you are innately a good critic already– you’ll be a GREAT critic when you get older because you will have more of life’s experiences to compare things to.

Of course, if you are a hopeless comics nerd living in your Mom’s basement, those new experiences may be limited to simply wearing larger sizes of Underoos.

    • phil says:

      @ insiderman

Cool stuff on ILCT. I subbed her when she 1st appeared, mostly because
her spirit is so infectious. What she lacks in knowledge of the medium is made up
for….. with her enthusiasm, and her willingness to try stuff other than the
status quo type stuff that’s out there.

    • kurumais says:

inside i think i may have a gal for J she also does some comic vids on youtube but she also a big footie fan she started a separate youtube channel to tallk about the world plus she is pretty. so that should be perfect for our burger meister except she is bubbly and upbeat and has a bunny rabbit for a pet that might be a deal breaker for the meisterburger

she also likes amadeus cho that how i found her looking up prince of power reviews i am not stalking fangirls on youtube

  37. Insideman says:

Since most everybody’s been bitching about this– I wanted to pass along this info.

I have a great gadget called EyeTV for my iMac… I literally can pick up all kind of crystal clear TV signals (standard and HDTV) using a very small indoor antenna. Associated software turns the computer into a DVR– and then I can easily transfer recordings to disc (FOR MY OWN PERSONAL VIEWING PLEASURE, NATURALLY).

The EyeTV folks have just released a software update.

    Look what for:

“A special edition of EyeTV 3.4 software is available during the 2010 FIFA World Cup that offers a new feature called the “Vuvuzela Filter”. This filter gives you the option to dampen the buzz of vuvuzela horns in the stadium during live TV broadcasts; it can be quickly switched on and off at any time during the game. To use the filter, control click to bring up the contextual menu in EyeTV.

The Vuvuzela Filter is available in EyeTV for a limited time only, and will disappear with the next software update – after the 2010 FIFA World Cup is over.”

    HA!

  38. kurumais says:

hey J and any other jrock/jpop fans what do you think of VAMPS they any good they are going to be at the NY comiccon/animefest

this show is going to be huge jacob javits is a really big place

The jointly-held New York Comic Con and New York Anime Festival 2010 will occupy virtually the entire Jacob K. Javits Center in 2010. Both shows will maintain distinct guests and programming space but will share a common show floor. Most importantly for attendees, fans will be able to attend both shows for the price of one — a ticket to NYCC 2010 will also provide access to NYAF 2010 and vice versa.

and access to both very cool got my tickets a few weeks ago

    • Haven’t really heard much of their stuff. I guess I’ll head over to youtube and check some stuff out.

      J.

      • kurumais says:

listened to a couple of songs they seem very fangirl friendly at least seems that way from the comments
btw just found out my little cousin is an otaku fangirl her mom was telling me she obsessed with nihonjin pop culture and is dying to go to japan i wonder if she is a big hyde/l’arc and seal/ vamps fan

  39. Insideman says:

I just read a Bleeding Cool story about SDCC starting a new lottery system for portfolio reviews… Meaning you could fly all the way there and not get you chance at showing your portfolio– simply because your number didn’t come up in the lottery.

Thankfully Marvel & UDON have already stated they won’t be affected by these new rules.

I’m only going to write this ONCE:

You know those “people” that run the San Diego Comic Con… The ones lauded incessantly because they work “tirelessly” for a non-profit entity?

99% of those assholes are pompous douchebags.

Really not worth the water to flush them to Hell.

  40. Mike F says:

Just finished SUPERGOD #3 by Warren Ellis. God damn. This guy can write. Is anyone else reading this? I mean yeah not everyone’s taste, but Jesus, is this shit good. Writing on a grand scale.

    • rush says:

I’m diggin this book. Ellis is tackling themes I like and talk about often.

      • Mike F says:

I know right? Actually I just emailed Ellis about why he choose Krishna over Lord Shiva.

I really feel like Shiva is a better role since he is in fact the God of Destruction, but even with Krishna the series fits so well.

        • rush says:

Having an Hindu upbringing I can say Krishna is the better choice. Krishna was the earthly and very mortal incarnation of Vishnu(the supreme dude).

          • Mike F says:

I can definitely see how Krishna works better as the savior but then once he starts attacking everywhere else outside of India, that’s just Shiva in my opinion. I’ve always related Krishna to love and affection and Shiva to Destruction. His role in the cosmic cycle shows he’ll be the one to destroy earth and be the one to bring it back together. Which as SUPERGOD starts off, earth is destroyed… But I love Krishna too. Ganesha could of made a cool choice as well.

Either way, I’m loving this comic 🙂

    • cballsack says:

      Anything like this?

  41. rush says:

Here is recommendation to fans of good sci-fi in the CCW-nation. The Lensman series by Edward Elmer “Doc” Smith which was originally pblished between 1937 and 1948 in Astounding Stories. There are many parallels between the Lensman and the Green Lantern Corp. These books can be found on Amazon.

    • cballsack says:

Cool. I’ve heard of it before, so I’ll check it out. I need something light to read after all the intense historical shit I’ve been reading lately.

    • phil says:

      Finally…..I’m no longer alone!!!!!

    • cballsack says:

I don’t even understand what she was trying to say.

      But, whatever, she’s hot.

    • Insideman says:

I was a latecomer to AOTS. The first time I saw Ms. Munn she reminded me of an old girlfriend who always seemed to be looking at me disapprovingly no matter how hard I attempted to please her… Unless I was causing her to orgasm. Then she seemed to sort of tolerate me for a few minutes of “afterglow”.

So my immediate reaction was “What’s the big deal here?” Then, when I saw several replacement hosts fill in for her and I thought, “They are all BETTER at this than her!” So then I sat around wondering why they didn’t fire her.

I know she’s popular and I know lots o’ people (men & women) who think she’s hot… But my friend’s Grandma still talks about how she has the “hots” for Telly “Kojak” Savalas.

My theory is– if you are on TV consistently… No matter what you look like or how talented/untalented you are… There will always be somebody who thinks your HAWT.

I mean, fuck, Hilary Swank has stalkers. (And not because they want to see her Oscar collection either.)

    • Morlock50 says:

But I can see the phrase “Walk it off, bitch” earning a permanent place in my list of pet sayings.

  42. kurumais says:

j this should make you smile its from cbr’s review of millars latest ultimates issue

“While the issue begins with the Punisher and Ghost Rider mixing it up a little, the rest of the issue indulges in some of the pedestrian attempts at maturity that sometimes afflict Mark Millar’s writing that are really nothing than scenes stolen from movies or laughable attempts at making characters ‘edgy.’”

but they still gave it 3 stars how the $%^& do you put that sentence in a 3 star review?

  43. DeadChef says:

there you go….i can probably make a better one, but i just thought i’d give it a quick attempt.
big fan of the show guys 😀

  44. Insideman says:

I just saw this story on Bleeding Cool and thought I would share it:

    http://www.bleedingcool.com/2010/06/25/scoop-marvels-digital-payment-letter-to-freelancers/

    I reacted with this post:

“If my Editor in Chief sent me a letter about possible future digital payments– as Marvel continues to further exploit my already completed work for their financial gain… and started this all-important missive with “Hi Gang” and ended his part of this important announcement with “Now where’s my Hover Board? See ya in the funny books!”… I would most likely do two things:

    1) I wouldn’t take the notice seriously, as I would object to being spoken to like I am a two-year-old nerd

    and

    2) I’d vomit

And NOT necessarily in that order.”

  45. kurumais says:

  48. generaldark says:

    new batman porn is out.

  49. Mike F says:

Anyone else catch the (possible spoiler) Hulk: future imperfect reference in fantastic four 580? Man that moment made me smile… overall tho the issue wasn’t my favorite but still that reference made my day 🙂

  50. Mike F says:

The new Green Arrow Relaunch was great in my opinion. It made me so happy, I walked down the street with glee!
