  1. Deemar says:

Gonna have to disagree on Scott Pilgrim.

The movie had me in stitches.

Chris Evans alone made that movie for me.

    • Stamps says:

Yeah I thought it was REALLY good, but haven’t read any of the trades. The movie makes me want to start reading it soon though.

      • Heck says:

Well, I guess if it makes you wanna read the series then it was a success. Anything that brings attenion to the awesome books is great.

      • Pobra says:

if you liked the movie, then you should for sure check out the books Stamps. Imagine if the movie was six times longer, with more heart and ACTUAL character development. 🙂

      • I was in the same boat you’re in Stamps. I saw the movie with a friend and as soon as I left the theater I thought, “I gotta read the comics now.” So during my trip to Chicago I stopped by Dreamland Comics (GREAT store btw!) and bought volumes 1, 3-6 (I had bought vol. 2 at Wizard World).

That is unusual for me since I wait for trades to show up a Half-Price. After reading the comics I was so glad I bought them and felt like I got my money’s worth out of it. There are SO MANY great scenes in the comics that I now wish were in the movie. Hopefully there will be added content in the DVD.

  2. Bobcat's Rants after seeing Machete the worst movie ever! says:

Wow 28 minutes Guys holy shit. LOL I’m kinda glad i didn’t go to wizard world. I would really like to here what you guys have to say about Machete. and J. throw that fuckin button away. don’t keep that shit around for E. to keep pressing.

  3. Deemar says:

How is Wizard still a viable business?

You guys need to do a show on the downfall/history of Wizard/Gareb Shamus.

I think it’s something newer fanboys/girls needs to know about.

  4. Deemar says:

No keep the button, the look on Jose’s face is priceless.

So Wizard World is a shriveled up old show girl, that fits

  5. TheMSpot says:

I agree 100% with everything you have the say about Wizard World. I was pissed that I spent 35 dollars for a ticket. You mean to tell me that there were people who spent over a 100, they should just kill themselves. Second episode that you have that button and already I want Jose to beat Elliott to death with it, thanks Insideman. P.T. Barnum also said that “any publicity is good publicity.”

  6. Matthew Guy (mguy1977) says:

As for DC having the “hidden” 4 bucks or higher price tag it all apart of business. I dont like the fact that a lot of Marvel books are 4 bucks and a few are only 3 bucks either. DC is just trying something different is it a good kind of different–NO. I have a budget, if I Marvel book is up to 4 bucks or a DC book is up to 4 bucks well bye bye Marvel. I want to read my DC books. Yes, I will buy fewer comics with the price increase & a select titles I will move to WFTT format.

  7. Heck says:

I’m a hugee fan of Scott Pilgrim. I’ve read the entire series mulitiple times and love all the characters. The film lost me. I did enjoy it, but I’m not a big fan of action flicks and this was just too much. None of the drama or the emotion of the series was there. I didn’t fall in love with Ramona like I did in the series (although she was gorgeous).

I also think it lost the whole “indie music scene” in favor of everyone just being video game nerds when in fact Scott wasn’t in the series.

  8. megamanx4ever says:

Are you shitting me!?!? is that all you get for the 150 dollar VIP package? A bunch of shitty variants no one wants?

    • Stamps says:

I’ve never understood why cons still do those. Do people really want those? The ones from San Diego maybe I could see there being a demand for, but Wizard? I’ve never met one person who says: “oh shit the new wizard world sketch variant of Hulk #___ will be there. I have to get that SO BAD”

  9. As far as Wizard World goes: Vendors and Comic Creators who were guests= awesome! Wizard themselves: horribly horrible at hosting a convention. The “volunteers” were terrible. You could tell that they had little to know interest in what they were doing. The volunteers at the conventions in Minnesota are WONDERFUL and they clearly have a love for comics.

On Friday of Wizard World Chicago my dad and I got there early and to avoid crowding Wizard “volunteers” almost literally herded us into a EMPTY ROOM ONLY TO HAVE US WALK IN A ZIG ZAG LINE. Both my dad and I asked a “volunteer” in that room what was going on and they had no f###ing CLUE what they were doing and why they were herding us. In fact NOBODY knew what was going on. It was the most useless thing I’ve ever done in my sixteen years on earth. Also towards the end of our walk in that EMPTY ROOM (which Wizard could’ve EASILY used for displays) there was a volunteer with a fake gun (which looked real) and I thought, “If he points that at me I’m going to shove is up his butt.”) Both me and my dad said, “That was pointless”, as we left that room! 🙂

Also if you’re going to shove us in a room at least give us something to look at other than the back of people’s heads. Give us something at the end for enduring with that nonsense. Then again I don’t want some 10 year old crap variant 🙂

    • Deemar says:

Sounds like I won’t be going anytime soon.

It sounds like you was in a concentration camp for geeks.

      • It was almost like that at times. 🙂

I wouldn’t have so much of a problem with them if:

A: They actually knew WTH they were doing and could answer the people (who are giving them oodles of money) in a clear and understandable manner.

B: If they’d use all of the empty space for the convention. That room I mentioned earlier was literally almost as big as the convention area and it was COMPLETELY EMPTY.

  10. Brett says:

First off thanks for the SHOUT OUT on the show Jose, Team Silver Bullet is honored to say the least to be mentioned on the best comics video blog show ever! C2E2 does make this con look like a joke, they had more people who really were interested in checking out comics and reading them it seemed like, instead of visiting the “freak show” of the cult of celebrity has beens. But I do love visiting Chicago and I love meeting people such as Jose who love comics and aren’t afraid to call bullshit on bullshit! Plus it was kind of a mini vacation and a party to pedal our indie book and entertain the people who had the misfortune to pass by our table!

  11. Brett says:

Here’s the link to all 5 issues are available, with the 5th issue featuring a cover by Khoi Pham, and issue 6 is finished just doing the lettering and it features a cover by Darryl Banks former Green Lantern artist extraordinaire,

For comics shops they can order whole sale, 30% off cover price and if they order 10 things (10 things total can be 1 of anything or 10 of one thing) total they receive 50% off cover prices.

    Our facebook page is!/pages/The-Silver-Bullet/111808952187199?ref=ts

Join if you like! And we will have a booth at Mid Ohio con the first weekend of November, although last year the con was kinda pathetic, it is in my back yard.
Thanks for the interest and support!
    Brett Wood.

  12. tomstewdevine says:

    Great show guys.

    • tomstewdevine says:

I like that Jose had to walk off at the end.

….I like the bullshit button as much as anyone else but don’t over do it Elliot.

  13. Urban Commando says:

Call me CRAZY, But I LOVED the button, the Shamus joke AND the Las Vegas Show Girl past her prime reference! All pure quality entertainment! 😉

  14. Sai011 says:

First time commenting on the blog. That good news to here about Scott pilgrim movie. Also is there any convention that stay true to comics? I have never been to a convention, really just want to go to one just about comics.

    • megamanx4ever says:

Well if you live near San Francisco there is Wonder Con which is a great Convention to go to if you live around the area they have a great amount of guests from comics and quite a few comics panels (I went to the Kick Ass movie panel) so I would definitley reccomend WonderCon.

  15. Matthew Guy (mguy1977) says:

If you are near Charlotte, NC the best Con for COMICS w/o the ComicCon BS is Heroes Con during June 3 thru 5 in 2011. Because San Diego is a multimedia event w/ Comics & many other things rolled into one.

  16. Edward2962 says:

Fun clip!! I’m kinda wondering what happened on Elliott’s date though. (smiley face)

  17. Edward2962 says:

No new open thread? I hope everything’s ok…

I’ll put this here if it’s ok. Richard Daley will not seek re-election as mayor of Chicago! I head’s exploding cuz I was one of the those ppl who thought he’d be here for life or at least another 15 yrs! Get your popcorn ready cuz come election time it’s going to be a real circus!

How this affects comics, we already pay some of the highest sales taxes in the land and with the recession folks have already cut back on comics. Who’s to say the new administration won’t pass a “entertainment reading tax” (I know I’m exaggerating)? Or maybe some other crazy fee on retailers that they pass on to the consumers? Not that Daley was the most friendly to independent small business folk, I’m just supposing…

What if some candidate decides to make an issue of Pete Parker’s or Hal Jordan’s casual sex? I know most folks are concerned with the economy but I believe there’s some tea candidate out there trying to curb masterbation!

Does Alex Ross still live around here? What if he gets mad and moves? (just kidding)

I just thought I’d bring it up.

  18. Comic Sketch says:

Sound to me like Wizard are a bit like the some events here in the uk, b listers and has beens. At least wizard has come comic stuff. i found an almost draconian resistance when a few of us indi creators wanted to do one of those shows. (i think the guy in charge doesnt like comics) oly after some moaning on a forum did we get one Dr Who artist three days before the event.

Dont get me wrong we get two great proper comic shows a year if your willing to travel a bit. Was funny at Bristol this year, the Nintendo guys ahd to beg people to try the games, and they were in a room that people had to go through to get to the small press and indie creators and that room was busy all the time.
