I don’t think I can accurately describe how much I hate JMS. The man is a hack who can’t write a good comic to save his life. His Wonder Woman is unforgivably boring, after something like that he doesn’t deserve to be a professional writer of anything. The only people who are making anything worth while are Grant Morrison, Nick Spencer, Rafael Grampa, Kate Beaton, and Paul Maybury. Not to mention Paul Pope who is currently stuck in 500 page graphic novel limbo.

To be fair JMS wrote some badass Brave and the Bold. His run on Spider-Man with Romita Jr. was one of the best in ‘recent’ history taking the character in new places and doing a lot that hadn’t been touched on before, a lot of aspects I miss. He also wrote the Spider-Ham special which should be noticed.

The last time I heard positive things about the Thor comic was during his time on the book, something I think that’s been forgotten.

Also Midnight Express is a great self contained story that I think should be of higher note, that’s a great American Tale.

Plus I really think we can see the effect of Rising Stars ever present in todays popular books outside of the ‘big two’.

So while JMS pretty much sucks right now, I wouldn’t call him a terrible writer, I’d just write him off for right now.

JMS B & B was the BEST of the trio & I miss the series greatly!
JMS Superman was meh ok not great (disclosure I am a Superman fan)
JMS WW is a good story but I want the skimpy bustier WW outfit back & yes I was read WW since the #1 relaunch.

As for Fuck the mainstream, Kirkman has been going gangbusters!

The tv show had 8 million total viewing (including the reairing ratings) the season finalle. I think a mini marathon of all 6 episodes back to back helped too on AMC Sunday night.

    Kirkman is King!

Quality comics — superhero & zombies

As a mainstream reader (mainly DC), I will confess I read The Walking Dead first from my monthly stack of comics before I read my stack of Superman comics (then the rest of my stack afterwards). It is THAT good!

I read Invincible in HC format & double dip w/ the Walking Dead in HC as well.
