I am really excited about Greg Rucka returning to Wonder Woman. His run defined what that character has come to mean to me. After seeing Nicola Scott draw the Amazon in the recent Secret Six story arc it seems that DC made a very wise decision in choosing her to pencil this mini. But there is one decision that DC editorial made with regards to this mini that ruffles my feathers. Why in the fuck are they getting Greg Horn to do the covers? No really, why? I do not want to see his art work on ANY DC comic let alone a Wonder Woman comic. His bargain basement style fits so well over at Marvel that it really should just stay there. Nicola Scott is already one hundred times the artist that Horn will ever be so why was she not given the cover chores? Hell, why is the Ryan Sook cover not the regular cover if DC doesn’t want Scott’s art to adorn the cover? I guess it could have been worse. It could have been Greg Land.

There was a jpeg available for Horn’s cover that I could have used as the pic in this post but his terrbile “art” will never be seen on this blog as long as I am writing the majority of the posts.

Munnder Woman

A couple weeks back Fanboy D left a comment on a Blair Butler post asking for a post dedicated to the funny and quite entertaining Miss Olivia Munn. For no other reason than that here is Munn’s first Wonder Woman sketch from Attack of the Show (with a special guest appearance by Blair Butler). You’re welcome D. Enjoy.

Wonder Woman Lends a Hand

While answering questions from comic fans over at CBR, Geoff Johns let us in on plans for a new mini-series that makes me very, very happy:

Wonder Woman will have a role in “Blackest Night,” though she isn’t a central character initially. She also appears in the “Blackest Night: Wonder Woman” miniseries by Greg Rucka. I’m a huge fan of Greg’s run. Can you guess what Black Lantern will be in it?

By now, every CCW viewer knows that I hold Greg Rucka’s Wonder Woman run in very high regards. Hearing that he will be writing another WW story is very exciting news indeed.

Geoff Johns Prime: Blackest Night at CBR

Last Friday Ryan Reynolds locked down the lead role as Hal Jordan in DC Comics’ Green Lantern film adaptation. He will also be appearing as Marvel Comics’ “Merc with a Mouth” Deadpool in that character’s own spin-off movie. And yet another comic character that Reynolds has been in negotiations to play, The Flash, looks to be happening as well. “Well, The Flash won’t have his own movie right off the bat,” explains Reynolds.

“After talking with Warner Brothers and DC Comics, we have all decided that after the Green Lantern film is completed that work on the long awaited Justice League film will begin.”

So will fans see Ryan team-up with actors Christian Bale as the Dark Knight and Brandon Routh as Superman? Well, not exactly. “This is all in the early stages mind you,” the actor says, “but plans are for me to write, produce and direct the film with myself playing the entire Justice League as well.”

“I mean, why not, right? Whenever I’m rumored to be playing a comic character in a film all I hear from the fan community is a resounding Fuck Ya! That would be great! Perfect Casting! So Warner’s and I thought let’s just give them what they want in the best way possible. In my early drafts of the script I’ve got Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, Green Lantern and The Flash all in there”

When pressed as to whether or not Reynolds would actually be playing the character of Wonder Woman the actor responded, “How hard can it be? She’s just Superman with breasts right? I just gotta do a bit of cross dressing and BAM! I’m Wonder Woman. The feminist movement won’t have to worry their pretty little asses off. I’ll do them proud.”

We will have more details here on the CCW Blog when more information becomes available.

“Wonder Woman remains a really bizarre, untouchable character. She should represent women in the same way Superman represents men.”- Grant Morrison

With all the recent Wonder Woman talk we’ve been having on the CCW Youtube Channel this bit of news is very interesting indeed. For those who have been criticizing that the character has not had an “iconic story” this should hopefully fit the bill nicely and silence the haters once and for all. Only time will tell.

Thanks to CCW viewer ‘CSTATB’ for sending this our way:
