With it being Wonder Con Weekend and all, I thought I’d create an ‘homage’ to the classic ‘convention sketch covers’ that have gotten so popular these days. Alas, I was unable to make it to Wonder Con. I hear that the stunning Jann Jones was in attendance. Sigh. Will our paths ever cross again?

Be sure to check out the interview I did with Steve Rude and his wife Jaynelle. Not only did they take time out of their busy schedules with Rude Dude Productions to talk to me, they were also generous enough to give us a few copies of the Nexus: The Animated Series Promo DVD to give to some lucky folks who join the CWR Google group!

Join up and you never know…

This coming Tuesday, my interview with Steve Rude (of Nexus fame) and his wife Jaynelle will be one of the many wonderful features you’ll be able to read over at the CWR site.

The above video is taken from the Nexus: The Animated Series promo DVD that Steve & Jaynelle put together to promote an animated feature to network execs. The DVD contains 2 minutes of fully rendered animated footage as well as a 5-minute feature on creating the Nexus comic book, starring The Dude himself.
If you’re looking to get a copy of the DVD, you can try to win a FREE COPY of it by signing up for the CWR Google Group, or head on over to SteveRude.Com to purchase one.
Hope to see you Tuesday!
That you can’t find the brit sitcom SPACED on video in the USA. It’s the show that gave us Simon Pegg and the team thatgave us Shaun of the Dead as well as Hot Fuzz

From the Spaced Wikipedia page:

“Tim Bisley (Pegg) and Daisy Steiner (Stevenson) are two London twenty-somethings who meet by chance in a cafe while both are flat-hunting. Despite barely knowing each other, they conspire to pose as a young “professional” couple in order to meet the requisites of an advertisement for a relatively cheap flat in the distinctive building at 23 Meteor Street, which is owned by and also houses the landlady, Marsha Klein (Julia Deakin). Also living in the building is Brian Topp (Mark Heap), an eccentric conceptual artist who lives and works on his various pieces in the ground floor flat. Frequent visitors are Tim’s best friend, Mike Watt (Nick Frost) and Daisy’s best friend, Twist Morgan (Katy Carmichael).”

So it’s Three’s Company meets The X-Files meets Freaks and Geeks…and yet it’s so much more.  It’s full of irreverent wit, pop-culture references and a cast of incredibly endearing characters.

Two things I’ve taken from watching it on a…creatively formatted DVD (you can only get it in Region 2 DVD format out of the UK):
1) Simon Pegg is a friggin’ GENIUS that makes being a geek/graphic artist/video game obsessive socially acceptable…
2) Jessica Stevenson makes slightly chubby, self-conscious, bumbling nerd-gals DAMN SEXY!!!I’d share a flat with her any day…
