I love the goldenloeb statue at the bottom.

  2. cballsack says:

So I guess that’s supposed to be the people on here? If so, I hope I’m Rambo. Cuz I’d like to think I’m not expendable.

  3. AvS says:

The turkish bazooka ‘thud’ is awesome!

    • AvS says:

      Thup, it’s a thup!

      • littlekingryan* says:

Yeah, that’s Deemar’s interpretation of the hilarious plunger sound that guy’s bazooka made. And Cball–I’m not sure it’s the people on here so much as characters that Dee’s come up with from various things CCW-related. Like I know the Astro-Boy was inspired by E’s microphone stand. Turkish Rambo AVS nailed. Some of the others, I’m not so sure…I don’t really ask questions, I just color the danged thing! And drink coffee. And listen to Wordballoon and Stern. And try not to earn J’s ire. One day, he will reach up and swat me down. Of this, I am certain.

  4. kurumais says:

i was looking up spaghetti westerns and found this little gem

    the stranger and the gunfighter

i cant remember why or place lo lieh i looked him up on imdb and ive seen a few of his movies

  5. AvS says:

Anyone else read Time Lincoln? I’m a sucker for sheeeit like that.

  6. littlekingryan* says:

The Dark Man took my son.

  7. I have been listening to the Ricky Gervais Show podcasts over and over and over again for the last few months. I don’t think there is anything funnier on the planet at the moment.

    J.

  8. Oh, on a comic related note, there will be some reviews coming your way tomorrow on the blog. We still do talk about comics on here, right?

    J.

    • cballsack says:

      Stand up comics?

      • SMARTASS8 says:

I was first introduced to Andrew Dice Clay when I religiously watched Diff’rent Strokes as a kid.

I listened to all of Andrew Dice Clay’s tapes as a teen while riding around with my friends in my car.

I am 34 and am sad about both of the above facts.

        • Oh, Dana Plato…crush. Le sigh…

          J.

        • AvS says:

          Kimberly. Drummond.

          • Hell ya. You know what I’m talking about, Willis!

            J.

            • AvS says:

Are you trying to ruin my childhood?

              • I take it you have never seen the film Jack and Jill…and Jill? It was a soft core porn staring Dana Plato.

Hey, I do believe that Kimberly Drummond was the first girl I ever had tingly feelings for…right after seeing Linda Carter as Wonder Woman. I don’t mean to ruin your childhood. In the nineties I actually dated a girl who looked like Dana Plato. I’m pretty sure if I told you what we did that THAT would ruin your childhood dreams.

                J.

                p.s.

I’m not kidding about the dating a girl who looked like Dana Plato part.

                • AvS says:

mah mah mah,… I can’t hear you; mah mah mah mah.

Actually I was aware of the Plato Porno. I heard about it… I dated a girl who kind of looked like Punky Brewster. We broke up after a very special episode where she locked me in an abandoned refrigerator.

                  • cballsack says:

I went out with a girl whose previous boyfriend dated Punky Brewster. So I’m sure I tasted a little Punky residual with the girl I was with.

                  • Punky Brewster before or after the breast reduction?

Also, being locked in a refrigerator is no laughing matter.

                    J.

                    • AvS says:

I am a gentleman, sir. The very fact that you would think that I might answer this question besmirches the good name that I have attempted to cultivate over these many years on this earth; I have never been so insulted in all my time on this blog contraption. Good day sir! I said good day!

                      Before.

                    • AvS says:

I did say it was a very special episode.

                • cballsack says:

I saw the Playboy issue that Plato posed in shortly after she died. That made me feel weird.

Now you got me thinking who the first girl was that I had tingly feelings for. Well, first celebrity. I had the hots for some girls in grade school.

Hmmm… thinking… maybe Tawny Kitaen. Loved her in Bachelor Party and, of course, the Whitesnake videos. Or maybe Susanna Hoffs of the Bangles. There was probably someone before that, but who knows. I never looked at Wonder Woman or Daisy Duke was being sexy. I was probably a late bloomer. My biggest teenage crush by far was Christina Applegate. I had several posters as well as every magazine she appeared in. Kids these days don’t know how good they got it, what with the Google machine at their fingertips.

I was also a big fan of the way Art Adams drew women. Still am.

                  • AvS says:

My first was Elizabeth Montgomery, home sick from school on TBS for an hour block 9-10AM. Still looking for a woman who can do that nose twitch thing. Involuntary ticks don’t count; just ain’t the same.

                    • Elizabeth Montgomery and not Barbara Eden? Weirdo.

                      J.

                    • AvS says:

The heart wants what the heart wants.

                    • cballsack says:

Not to be morose, but you ever see Elizabeth Montgomery’s tombstone? It’s pretty nice.

                    • AvS says:

I make a pilgrimage out to see it every once and a while and I keep stealing the little hat. To their credit though they keep replacing it. That’s cool, more little hats for me.

                    • phil says:

my 1st fictional crush was either Batgirl or the exotic green alien dancer on StarTrek, both playedI believe by Yvonne Craig

                    • SMARTASS8 says:

I’m with you AvS! Elizabeth Montgomery was way hotter imho!!! Even though they were probably the same age while filming their respective shows, I also liked “Samantha Stevens” more since she seemed mature. It’s funny how quickly you get over your lust for mature women when you hit your 30’s. A mature woman for me now would be in her late 40’s or early 50’s. Unless she looks like Heather Locklear, Diane Sawyer, Ellen Barkin, Angela Bassett, and maybe Pam Grier, I’m not interested.

                    • AvS says:

Smartass, I would like to sign up for your newsletter.

                  • I had the Christina Applegate poster hanging on my wall as a kid where she had a hawk perched on one of her hands. I think she had a snake in the other hand. So hot. I still have the poster to this day.

                    J.

                    • cballsack says:

                      Same exact poster I had.

                    • generaldark says:

love and marriage, love and marriage. goes together like a horse and carrage!!!

                    • Venom829 says:

My first fictional crush was Ms. Marvel, and now I have a second one: Stephanie Brown Batgirl. SHE IS HOT, I DON’T CARE WHAT ANY OF YOU GUYS THINK OF HER COSTUME! SHE’S STILL HOT!

                    • SMARTASS8 says:

I had an Christina Applegate poster on my wall as well. Before that, the little pervert that I was, I would buy Tiger Beat type magazines when they had pictures/posters of Alyssa Milano in them during her “Who’s The Boss” days. It’s weird that as much as I liked those 2 back in the 1980’s, they do nothing for me now. These days I’m all about Betty White.

                  • I also have the Art Adams’ X-Men poster and the “Mutants” one as well.

                    J.

                    • AvS says:

I had no posters growing up, by choice really. But I did have a black and white photocopied picture of Louis Armstrong on the wall. It was the only thing on my walls. I’m not making that up, just the facts. Who’s the weirdo now?

                    • cballsack says:

Here’s another girl I loved as much as Christina, although not nearly as famous. Her name was Kim Anderson. She was the main brunette in the music video “Girl School” by Britney Fox. She also made an appearance, ironically enough, on one episode of Married With Children.

                • SMARTASS8 says:

Way before I even knew what to do with these strange feelings(I never went through a “girls are icky” stage), my first celebrity crush was the female star of a shortlived TV show(it was canceled twice) named “We’ve Got It Made”. I even made my parents buy this issue of TV Guide…

…since she was on the cover.

Looking for a picture of “We’ve Got It Made”, I came upon this list of 1980’s TV shows…

                  http://www.cafemom.com/group/4509/forums/read/10960437/I_found_this_interesting_25_worse_sitcoms_of_all_time

…I feel guilty that I not only remember every one of these shows, I actually remember liking practically half of them(although I’m sure I wouldn’t anymore if I actually tried watching them again).

            • AvS says:

… childhood memories, that is. But while we’re at it, stay away from that time machine too.

    • Deemar says:

Oh by the way J hit me up on email got something to discuss with ya.

  9. Heck, I'm Listening says:

  10. DidioForever says:

Points for anyone who can figure out the link between these awesome songs

    • AvS says:

      Prince.

    • Edward2962 says:

I’m gonna say prince wrote these songs

      • DidioForever says:

        Yes! You knows it!

        • Edward2962 says:

I forget Vanity’s real name, but she’s a born again christian for the last several years. I’m not sure what happened to Apollonia.

          • DidioForever says:

            Hah hah

Vanity must be atoning for all that filth she used to sing!

            • kurumais says:

robia la morte pearl from diamonds and pearl is born again she played miss calender on buffy i met her at a con very pretty but sooo skinny
she said she wanted convery prince away from whatever born again secthe is in to her born again sect
ive since heard she was pretty much banned from the con circuit because of the god talk

i thought she was nice not too preachy

    • phil says:

      Ah the royal badness collectio
S Walls, Manic Monday and Martika’s Kitchen were all penned by P for those singers
I feel 4 u was sung by P 4 his second album, then later given 2 Chaka Khan 2 use
I’m not so sure that StandBack was as much a P creation as it was a StevieNicks creation that she gavr 2 Prince so he could rework it.

      • DidioForever says:

I read somewhere Stevie Nicks really wanted a song that sounded like I Would Die 4 U, so he came over to her studio, jammed out the chorus on a synth and let her sort the rest out!

    • cballsack says:

Prince wrote the song AND had sex with the artists. Do I get double credit?

  11. phil says:

As far as Prince connections go:

I use 2 have such a crush on this…hopefully formerly Pope hatin’ chick

and how can u miss with Carlton’s favorite singer.

  12. Venom829 says:

Because of posting all of that unspeakable Madonna crap, I MUST post something AWESOME:

  13. kurumais says:

i found an interesting clip on youtube batman the birth of the joker its part of fanmade film
but they use the original batman costume the bob kane design with that long bat ears sticking out at that odd angle and surprisingly it looks pretty good on film

i found it when i was checking out the trailer for a 1940’s serial called the green archer i wanted see how much of it made it into green arrow

  14. Mike F says:

    Good morning CCW citizens!

I bid you an epic weekend theme 🙂

  15. Morlock50 says:

Okay, I hear that JMS first storyline on Wonder Woman involves…the destuction of Paradise Island!!!!!!! Oh nose!!!!!!! And it’s for realsies this time! No more retcons! It’s gone! Drama for my momma!

    (fanboy rant commencing)

Can anyone identify how many times the destruction of P.I. has been used as a plot device in this title? I can think of John Byrne’s run where Darkseid destroyed it and killed a quarter of the amazon population (or something like that; fucking battle took place off-panel so I don’t know the exact number). Then Rucka had one of the gods (Athena?) splash the reflection of Themyscira, creating a tidal wave; which occurred before the OMACS attacked, forcing the island to disappear. Is this the bold new direction JMS had in mind when he took over? Where are the editors to tell him that he should think of something new? I got a baby on the way, people; I can’t waste any more money on lame-ass comics. So unless I start to notice dollar bills in my stool, JMS has 3 issues to convince me to keep buying WW, or I’m gone!
    (fanboy rant ending)

    • cballsack says:

JMS is quite overrated. His stuff is either hit or miss. I really enjoyed Rising Stars but I hated his Spider-Man run.

      • Pobra says:

Yeah JMS is a little hit or miss for me too. But he knocked it out of the park with Brave and the Bold #33 this week.

      • Edward2962 says:

I thought some of JMS Supreme Power stuff was OK.Not a must read, but OK.I think the real problem with Wonder Woman is not that the character is bad or that the creators are bad, just that the editors aren’t sure how to sell it to modern audiences.Incidentally,I think that was the issue w/Thor in recent years. Sure,we might like those old characters, but does the teenager who’s buying 4 Deadpool comics each month care about old heroes based on ancient myths?

        • Venom829 says:

The only JMS i have been able to read is his Spider-Man, and that was half good, and half bad cause of J.Q.

    • kurumais says:

yeah i saw that and groaned writers love to torture and punish the heroes these days
when was the last time a comic book writer actually sat down and thought up a crime/plot that wasn’t directed at the hero? when was the last time a hero helped somebody just because it was the right thing to do and not because someone was targeting them ?

    • Well, I stuck out Jodi Picoult’s run on Wonder Woman so I think I’ll stick with JMS for a while reguardless is it sucks or not.

      J.

    • Mike F says:

I think his Brave and Bold 33 issue proved he has a good way of writing female characters. And Wonder Woman is the quintessential Female hero. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was one of the best series for 2010. Really, he’s a trustworthy writer.

  16. Pobra says:

Thanks to all who recommended The Mighty Boosh, really digging it (despite Vince Noir being an emo dandy ;)). Never have I had such inspiration to create next years Halloween costume 😛

    • Hey Pobra, did you buy Tegan and Sara’s last album “Sainthood”? I finally got around to getting it last week and I am fucking addicted to it.

      J.

      • Pobra says:

No, I’ve been meaning to pick it up though.
Tell you what, I’ll get it this week if you promise to pick up Metric’s “Fantasies”. You will NOT be disappointed.

  17. cballsack says:

Just watched this. Thought it was a brilliant job of editing.

  18. phil says:

the tale tell sign for me with WW is Kramer, I saw his look for WW and the one hand, it left a l’il to be desired. On the one hand he’s drawn a more athletic WW; chiseled and defined, as an amazon should be …in my book, on the other hand, going by that pic, he might want to redistribute her proportions a bit.
I don’t mind a muscular WW, I just don’t want one that looks like a drag queen.

  19. phil says:

    Hey Jose

What are your thoughts on Thack Thwagger being a wwe champ and the release of Shelton Benjamin and Mickie James Myself, a goober like Thwagger is the worst decision since they shamed us with Sheamus. As for Shelton, he had the athleticism, the wrestling skill and whathavya, he just lacked the persona to get him over the hump and Mickie James; to quote Deemar…”thickness”. Man, I hope they don’t fill her void with another twig.

  20. Swagger is ok. I am kinda getting sick of WWE putting championship belts on younger talent just to get them over. The Benjamin thing really pisses me off. He was easily one of the best wrestlers that company has ever seen. But, ya, he really never could get over and WWE never had any good storylines for him. What a waste. I’d like to see Shelton over in Ring of Honor. He would be a good fit over there.

    J.

    • phil says:

While I believe you have a point on the wwe pushing the younger dudes to get them over, I’m not so sure that’s a bad thing. Don’t get me wrong; Thwagger, Sheamus and even Punk were certainly less than ideal to hold the title ( way less ),but the wwe does have to look to the future.
Shawn is gone, Takers’ probably next and the Game maybe has two….three decent years left before he has to go Whose shoulders will will the company rest on? Cena? Orton? Batista? These guys are good to great at what they do, but they’re transitional at best.
Folks like Morrison, Kingston, McEntire, even the Miz have to be considered to keep the business going forward.
Sorry ’bout that; as I was writing this, I did’nt know it was gonna go into rantish terrritory, but as a fan of this entertainment…I guess I had more to say on this subject than I realized 🙂

  21. vegedge says:

jose i picked up american vampire 1 and 2. really nice horror book so far.

are you and elliot going to review it for the show?

anyone else checking out i, zombie when it comes out in the next week or so

  22. Today’s fun fact:

William Moulton Marston, creator of Wonder Woman, also created the protype of the original lie detector test.

    J.

  23. Mike F says:

I gotta say, I was reading thru Millar’s recent Ultimate comic and I had high hopes at points. I even began to like it, but ultimately he still ended it bad. A shame, it actually had a few decent moments to be clouded by more bull crap.

I guess the good thing about bad writers at marvel is you never have to double check. They are just bad and pretty much there for you to know what NOT to buy 🙂

  24. TheMSpot says:

Did anyone see that promo for Scarlet by Bendis. I have a feeling he’s trying to rip off Hickman from what I saw. Which makes me excited for Hickman’s new Plus book I’m pretty sure that will have a more original story, and graphics that will blow my mind.

  25. kurumais says:

here is a cheesy show from the past while we are at it

lucan the wolf boy i dont really remember the show but i remember thinking it was soo coolas a kid

  26. Deemar says:

Miss one day on here and it flys by jeez

  27. Don’t forget new Doctor Who tonight.

    J.

    • Deemar says:

      I’m actually gonna watch!

      Yay

      • kurumais says:

ii just finished watching it and honestly i didnt expect moffat to be able to pull off another scary episode with weeping angels but i think he did it
remember way back when we listed out top pop culture heroes ? i think it was after E&J did a show on EW’s list. who wouldnt vote for the doctor after watching the first 4 episodes of this new series plus taking in account he’s been around since 1963 in tv, movies, audio plays, cartoons, comics, and novels the doctor ranks up there with top comic culture heroes of all time. i havent sen everybit of doctor who mostly tom baker and all of the russel t davis eraand ive sampled the rest and of course the past 4 episodes but smith and gillan are making a strong case for my favorite doctor/companion combo

    • tomstewdevine says:

      ha, like I would forget.

  28. Deemar says:

Alright I’m going too grab a bite to eat, holla in an hour or so.

  29. Venom829 says:

Has anyone seen the lame, pathetic preview for Ultimate Comics Avengers 2 #1? Only thing good? It was nice to see Leinil Francis Yu doing something in over a year.

    • littlekingryan* says:

Oh, Lord help me. First Ultimate Hulk vs. Wolverine and now this. Please someone talk sense to this guy and get him to team up with a decent writer.

      • Deemar says:

It’ll never happen, once Lenil got a taste of that Bendis money it was a wrap.

        • littlekingryan* says:

Seven pages of the Punisher shooting guys from different angles. Fucking brilliant writing. There’s a third of your book, right there. I’ll be sure and pick up the “Foilogram” variant. I want to hasten the return of 90s style gimmick covers to go along with 90s style shit writing.

        • tomstewdevine says:

So do you guys like Lenil enough to still buy the comics with these horrible writers and story lines?

          • Venom829 says:

I would like to buy SOME of them, but the writer can know how to kick you in the balls (Loeb) with their plots 😦

          • Deemar says:

            Nope

My doctor said it’s better for my cholesterol

I don’t blame Yu for working with these cats it’s good money so from that angle I understand why.

    • Edward2962 says:

I’m not sure I get it.Is Ultimate Punisher going to become Ultimate US Agent and then they go after Ghost Rider? It makes me sad cuz I’m an old school Avengers fan and after the latest arc I’m afraid it’s going to suck. But Deemar is right,it’s good money for the parties concerned.

  30. Deemar says:

    Lol

    Locust is Pvt. Soyer

    I’m the BIG TOE

and funny enough I was a sgt in the army

  31. phil says:

methinks tis time for a bit of levity
at somewhere between 11 and 15 comes another of my fave comics (comedians, that is)

  32. Dre says:

Hey, Jose, I’m working on a splash page-like drawing of BMB’s Avengers #1. Would you mind posting it here on the blog when I have it done? I’d love to get some exposure for it! Beware, though, it’s not very good and I’m not an artist…… yet. I’d just like to get some criticisms if I can and maybe use them to improve. Exspecially your critques. I know how heartless you can be when reviewing something you know is bad and that what I need above all else. If my pic is bad, please tell me it’s bad, why it’s bad, and so forth. Don’t hold back a bloody thing. I hope I’m asking for too much, I’d just like as honest an opinion as I get. So, what do you say?

  33. Edward2962 says:

On a slightly different note,I was thinking about doing a You Tube review of Lady Vengeance directed by Park Chan-Wook.I keep putting it off.Has anyone else seen this film? What do you guys think? I just brought it up here cuz the CCW Nation seem to have a varied film interest.

  34. Hey Tom. I was joking. Come back to the chatroom!

    J.

  35. phil says:

So whats up on this mutant deal now? Namor’s one? My understanding from back in the day was that Subby was a hybrid (whatever that means), but in Marvels’ milking it all for what she’s worth process, I guess it should come as no surprise that they would back-peddle away from this stance. How about the Falcon? I remember a while back that they were trying to push him off as a mutant as well. Giving him the ability to communicate with all birds, not just Redwing. Is that back in play?
On the DC side of things, any word yet who else is living again aside from (the big reveal folks at the end of BN8?

    • Venom829 says:

Namor always had the mutant x gene in him, Falcon, no clue. And I’m pretty sure more will be ressurected in BD1.

      • phil says:

Depending on your definition of always, I’d have to say that I remember an issue of the Sub-mariner from ages ago, when the mutant deal was 1st brought up. At that time, Marvels’ stance was that he was not a mutant…case closed. When mutants began to become popular, Marvel started altering its initial premise with Namor and convieniently put his “mutancy” back in to play.
Its not unlike what they’ve done with the Vision. You ask most folks these days what the Vision is ( prior to his disassembling ) and they’d say android, but back in the day he was referred to as a synthnezoid or something like that. So its like whatever’s expediant for Marvel at a given time is what they go with.

Ha!A friend of mine came over this morning around 6am,she just looked at me cuz she could tell I was hungover.211 not for lightweights. By the way, have I shared my feelings about Scott Summers?

Best news I’ve heard this month…

    http://www.suntimes.com/news/world/2198966,spanish-bullfighter-gored-042510.article

…I’m not a member of PETA and I still eat meat but torturing/killing animals for entertainment makes me want to kill every person involved. Score 1 for the bulls!!!!

  38. Deemar says:

It’s dead up in here, everybody recovering from hangovers heh!

    • phil says:

loved the movie pilot, the tv series, not so much
style wise, i preferred the civilian suited Mantis with just the Mask exposed
substance wise; the series seemed dumbed down from what the pilot was
      such potential, lost
although were it done right… it would still have been hard to push it thru

      • Deemar says:

I liked the actual mantis suit sans clothing

It was a head of it’s time.

If they ever get around to making a Black Panther movie Carl Lumbly better have a role, at least T’challa’s father.

        • phil says:

          agreed on T’challa’s father
in a casting call video I made I put the guy that does the mind wiping as the Panther.

          • Deemar says:

            Jimmi Jean Luis

Yeah he’d be good, but for me it’s either Idris Elba or Chiwetel Jifoir (Fucked his named all up) Black dude from Serenity.

            • tomstewdevine says:

I think he may be too small. But he is a great actor.

            • phil says:

from Serenity, the only person of color I remember was Ron Glass
unless u’re talking about the dude that was in the finale…a bounty hunter or something like that

              • Deemar says:

The dude with the sword in the movie

                • littlekingryan* says:

Chiwetel is badass. But so is Idris Elba, being a huge fan of the Wire. It’s really a toss-up. I think Elba may just edge out the win. Ever see Kinky Boots? That’s why.

                • SMARTASS8 says:

Since I’m a recovered Joss Whedon fan(couldn’t get into Dollhouse, thought Astonishing X-Men plummeted in quality after the first story arch, dropped his Buffy comic after a couple issues, and thought the last few seasons of Buffy ruined the near perfect first 3-4 seasons), I wasn’t expecting to like Serenity but Chiquita Jafar(however you spell his name) stole that entire movie. I’ve since seen him in a few other movies since then and he’s now one of those actors that makes me interested in a movie as soon as I hear he’s in it.

                • phil says:

my bad, I was thinkin’ bout the series

  39. Mike F says:

Anybody else want Brubaker to return to Incognito?

    Man, I loved it. I think there’s room for a few more stand-alone’s maybe…

    • tomstewdevine says:

I HAVE heard that they are going to do more Incognito, this first series just kind of set up this world they have for so much more. I think they could do a couple more volumes, but I would probably say that about anything phillips and brubaker do.

      • Mike F says:

Oh nice. Without a doubt it was a fun series. I prefer it over Criminal to be honest. IDK. But I haven’t read into Criminal as much… so I might rephrase that later 😉

    • littlekingryan* says:

Yeah, they’re doing more Incognito next. Says so in the back pages of the last Criminal. I think Phillips may also be doing the next arc of the Dark Tower. Not sure where that fits in. But I do know is more Incognito next before they get back to Criminal.

  40. tomstewdevine says:

Anybody see the JG Jones cover for Doc Savage, it looks horrible. What hell happened, he usually does outstanding work.

  41. AvS says:

Does anyone have anything bad to say about Losers? I was about to put on my shoes and go see it but can’t find my left shoe. So if anyone can give a convincing argument for it being a piece of shit it would really help me out; giving me an excuse to stop looking for the shoe and maybe start in on that apple I’ve been thinking about eating.

  42. Constantanius says:

Does anyone watch Smallville on this blog? Friday’s episode was dealing with some Clark and Lois issues, but why I wanted to post it here was to see if anyone had any insight on The Red Queen? Who do you think this is? With Maxwell Lord showing up in this episode and showing the Red Queen wearing Red Boots, could it be Wonder Woman?? I’ve never read the Suicide Squad so some information in there may have helped me but I can’t find any info on a Red Queen from the DCU at all. Please post your thoughts and insights into this.

    • tomstewdevine says:

I do watch it, I will be watching the new episode tonight, so i will get back to you.

WARNING: We will both be ridiculed for watching this show and admitting it here on the CCW boards. Some fools like to think that they are too good for shitty versions of our favorite characters presented in a teen pop way, and they don’t watch, well I say so what if no one can act on the show, I still like it.

    • TheMSpot says:

I only saw the JSA absolute justice episode and couldn’t stop laughing at the over acting by Hawkman.

      • Constantanius says:

You know that was Michael Shanks aka Dr. Daniel Jackson from SG:1… Yeah I know that 5 O’Clock shadow threw me off as well

      • I saw that episode too. Overall it was ok but, ya, Hawkman’s overacting and his love of puns was almost too much.

        J.

        • Constantanius says:

I wasn’t to concerned with the acting as I was forced to realize that the Hawkman costume doesn’t translate well to live action. It’s much better on the page.

          • littlekingryan* says:

Yeah, I watched it with my brother, who is a huge Stargate fan but not so into comics, and we were both a little embarrassed, and chagrined by our respective interests. Not translate well? How about at all?
Is Life Unexpected the one with that hot girl who was on ER for a while? Her name is….data banks processing…Shiri Appleby! Knew I could come up with it. Never watched the show and yet I am a fan.

        • Venom829 says:

That just happened to be the episode written by Geoff Johns. Irony? Not really!

    • Venom829 says:

That show lost me by season 5

    • SMARTASS8 says:

I’d seen every episode up until the first Zatanna one. I still mean to catch up on the episodes I’ve missed(about a season and a half but I still haven’t). I probably can top that for embarassing TV. I’m in love with Lauren Graham so I started watching Parenthood. Considering she was a last second replacement on a show that’s the second attempt to make a TV show based on a movies that’s over 20 years old, I wasn’t expecting to like it. It’s actually a pretty good show that seems to get better with each episode. Although, it’s no Grey’s Anatomy. What?

  43. Mike F says:

    Guys…

    GUYS I am… Uhh I am scared.

I read an interview where Grant Morrison wants to kinda touch base on Bruce’s parents. As if their fate was different but Bruce still became Batman.

Guys – this is not good. If Grant actually retcons the death of Batman’s parents then… All’s lost.

    • Mike F says:

Is it possible that Mr. Morrison, a comic legend is planning to do something completely awful?

Citizens of the CCW nation… we must stop this.

      • Venom829 says:

Coming from one of the biggest Batman fans of the CCW Nation, I’m not really worried, he already tried that stiff in his last run on Batman so this won’t matter, he is trying to do something with Thomas Wayne in Batman & Robin #13

    • tomstewdevine says:

Don’t be scared Mikef we will get through this.

    • Locusmortis says:

Batman’s origin is Batman’s origin, nothing that Morrison does will affect that, I wish people wouldn’t get so tied up in knots over stories that haven’t been published yet.

  44. Constantanius says:

Sweet lord I just looked at the preliminary books coming out this week. Does Marvel know no bounds? I had to hit my scroll wheel ten times on a 22″ wide screen, most of the clicks due to variants

    • It’s those damn Iron Man variants. If you have money, Marvel will find a way to get it from you.

      J.

      • Constantanius says:

80 Books including variants 48 excluding the variants. Wow I don’t have that kind of money, and I can’t imagine who does.

        • tomstewdevine says:

          That is so ridiculous.

          • Locusmortis says:

Marvel always do this shit at the end of a quarter year. You would think that proper scheduling would dictate an even spread of titles but Marvel leave some weeks barren and then unload a torrent of shit in one week. In the same vein they’ll put out 2 or 3 Avengers books in a week and then have nothing for weeks afterwards.

  45. TheMSpot says:

There’s got to be a way to tar and feather Joey Q in real life? Because thats what I do in my mind on a daily basis.

    • cballsack says:

Really? Cuz I’m thinking about a swimming pool full of money and lesbians on a daily basis, but hey, I guess we’re all different.

    • SMARTASS8 says:

Don’t buy his books. That’s the only way to hurt him(without actually hurting him where you’ll just end up in prison). It was hard at first due to my decades long love of the Marvel U but I sleep like a baby on Wednesday nights knowing I’m not giving a penny to a company that has made a non-talent like JoeyQ rich. I even plan on skipping Iron Man 2(although with “The Wrestler” and “Mrs. Hal Jordan” in starring roles, it’s not that hard a sacrifice).

  46. Locusmortis says:

Apparently fistfights broke out amongst otaku over a few figurines of Yui…those wacky japs!
